The Kilsyth Cobras women’s ended Round 1 of the 2023 NBL1 South season in pole position at the top of the ladder after two huge wins.
NBL1 South analyst Liam Ellison praised the Cobras’ women’s team and applauded their efforts on both ends of the court, acknowledging not one, but four players reached double figures in their most recent win.
“The Cobras are looking good, 2 and 0. Another one of those clubs that have started Round 1 off in perfect matter,” Ellison said on The NBL1 Show.
“They had four players in double figures. They extended their lead at every break.”
In their first game of the season, the Cobras took out the W against the Geelong Supercats with an 11-point win.
They faced the Dandenong Rangers on Saturday night and won 85-58 at home. Nikita Young, Isis Lopes, Alexa Hart and top-scorer Georgia Booth all brought their A-game with double-figure point totals.
Ellison commended guard Georgia Booth who was a standout force on Saturday, top scoring with 25 points, three rebounds, two assists and three blocks for her side.
Booth recorded more points than minutes against the Rangers, and Ellison highlighted the 20-year-old’s ability to power through her 23-minute stint.
“She was a standout, she really was,” he said.
“She found success in transition, slashing to the hoop, converted on a few threes. She was clearly the best player on the floor.”
The Cobras will look to stay perfect this weekend when they play in the NBL1 South Kayo Freebies Game of the Week on Saturday night against the NBL1 South MVP Alicia Froling's Knox Raiders from 6:00pm AEST here.
