Elias Palioyiannis' reaches 400 games

NBL1 South proudly celebrates Elias Palioyiannis's monumental achievement of coaching his 400th Senior Representative game tonight, spanning NBL1 South and Big V Championship. His coaching tenure began in the Big V in 2011 through to 2018 and has continued in NBL1 South, where he currently leads both the Waverley Falcon's men's and women's teams.

NBL1 South proudly celebrates Elias Palioyiannis's remarkable accomplishment of coaching his 400th Senior Representative game tonight, spanning across both NBL1 South and the Big V Championship. His coaching journey commenced in the Big V in 2011, extending through 2018, and he has since continued his tenure in NBL1 South. Currently, he coaches both the Waverley Falcons' men's and women's teams.

Elias's basketball journey commenced 29 years ago in domestic leagues, evolving into representing Waverley in the Friday night VJBL. His playing career also saw him excel in the Championship division of the Big V.

Echoing the sentiment, Waverley Falcons; President Mike Bullock remarked, "No one I know has a coaching record quite like Elias's, especially considering his dedication to coaching two Friday rep teams for the past decade. I am immensely proud of such a valued club member. He truly embodies the essence of the Waverley Basketball Association."

Among Elias's notable achievements are guiding the State Championship Men to the Runners-Up position in 2017, securing the Championship title with the Youth League One Men in 2018, and leading the NBL1 Women's team to the Conference Grand Final in 2023, preceded by victories in the Semi Final and Preliminary Final matches.

Furthermore, Elias's coaching legacy extends beyond senior representative games, with his involvement in Waverley's junior representative program since 2002, including coaching 19 VC teams and making 5 classic appearances.
