It is the Festival of Hoops for Round Two and Three of the NBL1 South 2023 season. Both rounds offer traditional rivalries, big events, and a jam-packed schedule!

Round two- is April 13 to 16 offering an incredible 36 (men and women combined) games being played across the NBL1 South conference, then with only a two-day break, round three (ANZAC round) backs up with 36 (men and women combined) games between 19 April and 25 April. With so much basketball happening across the conference, what better way to get your basketball fix on the school holidays!

Across both rounds there are several standout games that are unmissable!

On Friday night Mt Gambier Pioneers will play host to Casey Cavaliers at their new home Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre. Both the Mt Gambier, men and women’s teams have started season 2023 strongly, with two wins each (on the road)- they are going to be hard to beat at home.

The Kayo Game of The Week for round two is the game we cannot wait to tip off-Knox Raiders battling it out against Kilsyth Cobras, tip off: women tip off 6pm and men at 8pm. Get down to witness two of the toughest teams in the conference hit the court at the State Basketball Centre on Saturday night.

Round two will also see our Tasmanian teams, Northwest Thunder (men), Launceston Tornadoes (women) and the Hobart Chargers, travelling across the Strait for the first time this season, with all eyes will be on these games to see how they compete away from home.

Marena Whittle will play this weekend for The Champions, The Ringwood Hawks – she has just come off a HUGELY successful 3x3 campaign for Australia.

Round Three will have the traditional ANZAC Day clash between Frankston and Dandenong, the two clubs have a rivalry that spans over 14 years, which is obvious on court with the physicality and passion of both teams. What is going to make this game even more exciting is that Lucas Barker has been a part of BOTH teams throughout the rivalry.

Game of the Week for Round Three is Sandringham Sabres versus Waverley Falcons, bot hhaving teams in the 2022 finals (Waverley women and Sandringham men), the two South East metro teams always bring some healthy competition to the court.

The trial for many teams this early in the season is going to be how their roster blends together. Campbell Blogg, Sandringham Captain has signed with Melbourne United as a development play for season 2024- this is going to give him a huge confidence boost for NBL1 South season, Melbourne Tigers have just announced Jade Melbourne has signed for a handful of games before she heads off to play with the Seattle Storm- so if you get the chance to watch Jade on the court before she takes on the WNBA what an amazing opportunity!

Don't forget to post your photos here supporting your local NBL1 South club- we can’t wait to see them.
