Melbourne Tigers have announced the re-signing of Jade Melbourne as they gear up for the commencement of the NBL1 South 2024 season.

The NBL1 South 2022 Youth Player of the Year, will once again don the Tigers' jersey before embarking on her journey to join her Seattle Storm teammates for the upcoming WNBA season.

In the NBL1 South 2023 season, Melbourne averaged 21 points, 7.3 assists and 10 rebounds per game, across 3 games played.

Following her 2023 campaign in the WNBA, Jade showcased her continued growth in the WNBL with the Canberra Capitals. Averaging an impressive 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists per game, she claimed the WNBL Fans' MVP Award.

Melbourne was recently spotted at the NBL1 South Blitz, scoring an impressive 27 points against Geelong United Supercats and 30 points against the Eltham Wildcats.

Head Coach Kaleb Sclater expressed his enthusiasm, stating,

“It’s great for the club that Jade is returning for the first part of the season.”

“Not only is she an unbelievable player, but also an unbelievable role model for the young junior girls at the club. Jade brings an attitude and energy that rubs off on everyone, and it showed the first practice she came to; the intensity really lifted.“

“I’m excited to see her out there; the way she can get on the rim and run the floor will open up chances for the shooters we have and fits into our style of play.”

In response, Jade shared her excitement, remarking,

“I’m excited to be playing for the Melbourne Tigers for the first few games before I head back over to Seattle.”

“I really enjoyed playing there last year, and it really helped me get prepared for WNBA training camp.”

“I love the group of girls; I think Kaleb has done an excellent job of recruiting a really good team, so I’m looking forward to playing with them all.”
