NBL1 South is gearing up for an action-packed 2024 season. The league is set to tip off Round 1 on Wednesday, April 3rd, immediately following the Easter break, promising a spectacle of athleticism and intense competition.

The season opening round will feature both the women's and men's Grand Final matchups. The reigning champions, the Knox Raiders, will be hosted by the formidable Sandringham Sabres at the Southern Basketball Centre on Wednesday, April 3rd. Meanwhile, on Saturday, April 6th, the Bendigo Braves, the Women's Champions, will go head-to-head against the Waverley Falcons at The Red Energy Arena.

This season promises to be a thrilling start with a packed schedule of 72 games over the first 12 days, starting from April 3rd and concluding on Sunday, April 14th. All 14 NBL1 South clubs will play 22 games spread across 14 rounds, each hosting 11 home games.

Rivalry takes centre stage in Round 1 as the Eltham Wildcats host the Diamond Valley Eagles in a North East showdown for the O’Connor – Cukier Cup, marking the beginning of their respective campaigns. Additionally, the Tasmania Derby in Round 1 will see Hobart competing in the North and the Kilsyth Cobras hosting rivals the Knox Raiders as part of the Ashes.

One of the highlights of the season is the Anzac Eve clash in Round 4, featuring the Frankston Blues hosting the Dandenong Rangers – a fixture that has become a staple in the NBL1 South calendar.

To accommodate fans during the King's birthday long weekend, there will be 14 games (7 women's, 7 men's) scheduled on Thursday and Friday, providing a larger spread of games throughout the season.

Clubs are strategically utilizing the April and June/July school holidays to host midweek games, spreading the load of double headers and ensuring an engaging experience for fans.

Fans can also look forward to the return of the Annual feature rounds of ANZAC and FIRST NATIONS, with a new addition for the 2024 season - the HERITAGE ROUND. This promises to add a unique flavor to the competition, celebrating the rich history and traditions of the participating teams.

The pinnacle of the NBL1 South season, the Conference Championship game, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 10th, at the redeveloped State Basketball Centre, promising an exciting climax to what is set to be a thrilling and memorable 2024 season.
