NBL1 South has joined forces with headspace Australia for the fourth annual ‘Mental Health Round’ (Round 2 - Monday 08 April to 14 April), a vital initiative aimed at raising awareness and extending a helping hand to those in need.
headspace is Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation, providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds.
Each year, headspace helps thousands of young people access vital support through our headspace centres in communities across Australia, our online and phone counselling services, our vocational services, and our presence in schools.
headspace can help young people with mental health, physical health (including sexual health), alcohol and other drug services, and work and study support.
In a visible display of solidarity, all players and coaches will wear GREEN headspace socks, while referees will sport GREEN whistle lanyards, symbolizing unity in addressing mental health challenges.
Alison Cody, NBL1 South League Manager, emphasized the significance of the annual round, stating, “Mental health remains one of the most pressing issues in Australia today, and we recognize that our players, coaches, and officials are not exempt from its trials. We extend our gratitude to this year's partner, headspace Australia, for their unwavering support.”
The Mental Health Round commenced on Monday evening and will continue until Sunday afternoon's games.
