Steindl leads Chargers to dominant second half
The Hobart Chargers scored their second win of the NBL1 South season on Friday night at home beating the Melbourne Tigers 82-51.
The Chargers were back on their home floor at Hobart Netball and Sports Centre to open Round 4 in the NBL1 South on Friday night, and they dominated the second half in spectacular fashion.
It was a tight contest in the opening half with the Tigers leading 16-15 by quarter-time and then the visitors were still marginally on top 33-32 going into the main break.
It was all Hobart after half-time, though, with the Chargers outscoring the Tigers 24 points to six in the third quarter, and another 26 to 12 in the fourth to end up winning by 31 points.
The victory improves Hobart to a 2-4 record season with the loss seeing Melbourne also sit on that same record after the opening six matches.
It's no surprise to see how well Kayla Steindl is now settling back in after the birth of her second child, but that doesn’t make it less impressive and she put up 25 points and 11 rebounds in Hobart's win.
Paige Bradley added 17 points, seven assists and three rebounds for the Chargers, Sarah O'Neill 11 points and two boards, and Lauren Mills eight points and 10 rebounds.
Sam Simons ended up with 16 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals for the Tigers while Nikki Metcalfe contributed 12 points and four boards, and Tylah Hooper 10 points and two assists.
