WOMEN'S

Eltham Wildcats 81 defeated by Waverley Falcons 91

The Waverley Falcons secured a win against the Eltham Wildcats 91-81 on Thursday night at Montmorency Secondary College.

Waverley showed off their offensive prowess with a standout performance from Mckenzie Forbes, who dropped 27 points, including five triples. Rebecca Cole also had a standout game, contributing 24 points with nine assists. The Falcons dominated the boards, out-rebounding Eltham 49 to 38, and their shooting was on display with an efficient 40 percent from three-point range.

The Wildcats, despite the loss, had their moments. Foot Locker Player of the Week Lily Scanlon led the scoring for Eltham with 20 points, while Rebecca Pizzey almost matched it with her own 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds. However, they struggled from beyond the arc, shooting only 23.3 percent, which significantly impacted their ability to keep up with Waverley's scoring pace.

Frankston Blues 73 defeated by Kilsyth Cobras 78

The Kilsyth Cobras secured their fifth win of the season against the Frankston Blues 78-73 on Thursday night at the Dreamstreet Lending Arena.

Kilsyth showcased a solid performance with four scorers in double-digits, outmatching Frankston's struggling 37.5 percent from the field. The Cobras dominated inside, putting up 54 points in the paint compared to the Blues' 32. Tyra Marie Whitehead led the charge with a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 12 boards while Nikita Young had a team-high of 18 points.

Frankston, despite the loss, saw Chelsea D'Angelo drop 27 points and snag five steals, while Lauren Scherf added 21 points and nabbed nine rebounds in Steph Reid's absence. Without their Opals star, the Blues struggled from outside, hitting only 21.1 percent of their triples.

MEN'S

Eltham Wildcats 94 defeated Waverley Falcons 89 

The Eltham Wildcats closed out a close win at home over the Waverley Falcons 94-89 on Thursday night at Montmorency Secondary College.

South East Melbourne Phoenix star Owen Foxwell led the charge by dropping an outstanding 38 points and five made triples. Sam Short and Angus Glover also contributed significantly with 18 and 17 points, respectively. The Wildcats showcased one of their best overall offesive performances, shooting 51.4 percent from the field and 37.1 percent from outside the arc.

On the other side, Waverley's Malik Meunier put up a strong fight with 25 points while and Dexter Kernich-Drew added 14. With Boomer Dejan Vasiljevic, the Falcons couldn't match Eltham's shooting efficiency.

Frankston Blues 105 defeated Kilsyth Cobras 73

The Frankston Blues dominated the Kilsyth Cobras with a commanding 105-73 victory on Thursday night at the Dreamstreet Lending Arena.

The Blues were unstoppable, with NBL1 South Co-MVP Daniel Trist leading the charge with 19 points and 10 boards. Five other scorers were in double-digits, highlighted by Lachlan Barker's 18 points, hitting an impressive 77.8 percent from the field. The team excelled in the paint, scoring 64 points to Kilsyth's 26. Frankston's ability to convert turnovers into points was also crucial, adding 25 points off turnovers alone.

While the CObras had a strong game, they were no match for Frankston's output. Adrian Tomada led the way with 15 points but they found themselves outrebounded 38 to 23, giving them no advantages heading into the final stages of the game.
