Melbourne Boomers star Penina Davidson opens up about her life lessons and discoveries away from the court with Under the Surface with host and superstar Anneli Maley.

Davidson averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds for the NBL1 North Cairns Dolphins in the NBL1 last season. Playing alongside NBL1 North All-Star Five member Cayla George, the Dolphins made it to the finals, where they fell short to the then-undefeated Logan Thunder.

In the latest episode of Under the Surface, Davidson said that playing for the Dolphins was the best basketball decision she ever made.

“I moved to Cairns for the NBL1 and it was the best basketball decision I’ve made.”

That was because we would have a game, and like, don’t get me wrong, we were working out in the week, Cayla (George) and I were working out with some of the Taipans boys – it was really good.

“We were getting pushed, we were scrimmaging against the guys, pilates every day.

“We’d play Friday, and then Saturday, Sunday, Monday, we were just out in the Great Barrier Reef. It was the first time I had three days in a row, in the ocean and the waterfall, wonderful.”

The Melbourne Boomers are on a tear through the WNBL this season, sitting at the top of the ladder at the end of Round 9 with a record of 10-2. Check out the latest NBL1xWNBL Wrap here
