Can the Knox Raiders carry their championship-winning momentum into Canberra?

After taking out a previously undefeated Geelong United side in the NBL1 South Women’s Grand Final, will the Knox Raiders carry enough momentum into the Mitsubishi Motors NBL1 National Finals to continue storming through the competition.

Heading into the final with a 22-0 winning streak, Geelong recorded a perfect regular-season run in 2025. They finished with the longest winning streak recorded in the NBL1 South women’s division in one singular season, and sitting just behind the Bendigo Braves who notched up a 33-game winning streak over the span of the 23/24 seasons.

Although, Knox headed into the Grand Final with a 19-3 record, running hot on a 14-game winning streak. Geelong seemed to be unstoppable, but if anyone could do it, it was the red-hot Knox Raiders.

While the decider seemed tight in the early stages, Knox managed to create a buffer on Geelong and eventually pull away to a game-winning margin of 20 points. Geelong’s poor accuracy was a huge factor, shooting just 28% from the field compared to Knox’s 50%.

Now the question everyone is asking: Can Knox go all the way and follow in the footsteps of their men’s team who won it all at the National Finals in 2023 and 2024?

Now that the women’s team have won their first NBL1 South Title since their SEABL victory in 2013, a milestone which shows just how significant this win is in showing the growth and success of the program, they are certainly aiming to go one step further.

With elite defensive and offensive skills which forced undefeated Geelong United into their first loss for 2025, the Raiders look primed to translate their NBL1 South triumph into further success on the national stage.
