It was a big night for the Hobart Chargers at Basketball Tasmania’s 2025 Gala Dinner, with both Jarrad Weeks and Portia Chopping among the award winners.

Weeks was named Senior Coach of the Year after leading the Chargers back to the NBL1 South Playoffs in his first season in charge. Recognised for revitalising the club’s culture and supporting coaching development across the state, Weeks’ impact was felt well beyond the win–loss column.

Rising star Portia Chopping capped off a breakout year by claiming the Gold Class Athlete Award, highlighting her development within the Chargers program and her growing reputation as one of Tasmania’s brightest young prospects.

The celebrations continued for the wider Tasmanian basketball community, with Martin Parker awarded Senior Referee of the Year for his ongoing professionalism and leadership in officiating across the state.
