Newcastle Falcons star Myles Cherry has proven to be a dominant player in the NBL1 East this season and conference expert Jacinta Govind praised Cherry's impressive campaign.

In the last two games, the Falcons have scored themselves a 2-0 record, with Cherry playing a massive part in that.

In Round 10, Cherry averaged 26 points, 18 rebounds and a field goal shooting percentage of 69.7 percent from the field. For the season, Cherry averages 18.2 points, 11.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists.

Govind spoke on Cherry’s performance so far, with the 23-year-old making an impression on the league.

“This guy [Myles Cherry] literally lives in the paint,” Govind said on the latest episode of The NBL1 Show.

“Of the 148 shots he’s taken this season, he’s only taken 11 outside the key.”

With his versatile play, Cherry has been leading the defensive end of the court and is currently second on the stats ladder for 11.6 rebounds per game.

Last weekend, Cherry's rebounding was what stopped the Bankstown Bruins claim the lead, the Falcons took out a three-point win. Cherry scored 20 points and a massive 27 rebounds.

Game two was the icing on the cake for Newcastle, as they won 95-76 to the Albury-Wodonga Bandits at their home stadium, where Cherry recorded 25 points with 16 rebounds.

“He’s definitely got his game down pat under the basket and he’s probably one of the most consistent performers this year,” Govind said.
