Club Update: Kane de Wit Scheduled for Knee Surgery

The Castec Rural Pioneers wish to inform our community that club captain Kane de Wit will undergo knee surgery following recent medical scans.

Kane sustained the injury around three weeks ago while representing the Mount Gambier Lakers throughout the Country Basketball League (CBL) season. Despite the setback, Kane has been able to continue to compete and had been in strong form leading into preparations for the 2026 NBL1 South season.

Medical advice has confirmed that surgery is required. The club will be able to confirm further details on his expected recovery and rehabilitation timeframe and possible return to the court. 

As a 200-game championship player and outstanding club person Kane has long been a valued leader within the Pioneers program, and our thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery. 

We know how much support surrounds Kane from his family, teammates, staff, volunteers, partners, members, and fans. We encourage everyone to get behind him as he begins his recovery journey.
