Check out the must-watch games this weekend below.
Saturday, Round 3: Eastern Mavericks vs Southern Tigers
Women’s live from 6:00pm ACST | Men’s live from 8:00pm ACST
Morgan Yaeger will face her old side for the first time this Saturday, last playing the Southern Tigers back in 2023 – will the former championship guard catch fire again?
After three years with the club from 2021 to 2023, Yaeger led the team to multiple finals campaigns and was a critical piece in their championship run during the inaugural NBL1 Central season.
In 2024, Yaeger made the move up North playing for the Rockhampton Cyclones. As their scoring punch, Yaeger became a two-time NBL1 champion and returned to Adelaide – this time with the Eastern Mavericks.
She’ll face her older side in hot form, averaging 32.50 points this season after an explosive debut against the defending champions. Currently sitting at 0-2 on the ladder, can the Tigers lock down Yaeger? We’ll find out Saturday night.
Friday, Round 2: Rockingham Flames vs Cockburn Cougars
Women’s live from 6:30pm AWST | Men’s live from 8:30pm AWST
A battle of stars will take place Friday night as a Grand Final rematch will kick off Round 2.
Rockingham’s Finals MVP Alex Sharp continues her dominance into 2025, scoring 14 points with 23 rebounds in a disappointing loss to the East Perth Eagles. Meanwhile, former Cougar Alexandra Ciabattoni will face her old club for the first time.
The Flames are also eagerly awaiting Marena Whittle’s debut, so this time will be truly loaded come finals time.
On the Cougars' side, a combination of 2023 Finals MVP Steph Gorman, Sarah Mortensen, Daniel Rabar and Jaya Scafidi will be a formidable foe for this blockbuster Kayo match-up.
Sunday, Round 3: Central Coast Crusaders vs Norths Bears
Women’s live from 12:00pm AEST | Men’s live from 2:00pm AEST
Former Warrtah League MVP and Round 2 Foot Locker Player of the Week Garric Young will take on the Norths Bears in this Sunday's clash.
Showing the strength of the pathway between Warrtah and the NBL1 East, Young has set the competition alight with an average of 21.5 points. Alongside seven-footer Lino Manhom, who had four blocks last week, and Sydney King Klairus Young – the Crusaders are set for a massive season.
The Bears are coming off a 21-point loss to Manly Warringah, so expect an extremely motivated team coming into the weekend. The one to watch is Iggy Mitchell, coming off two injury-riddled seasons, can the young guard make his return and make an NBL comeback?
