The OneFortyOne Pioneers are thrilled to announce the signing of talented guard Gracie Champion for the 2026 NBL1 South season.
At 24 years of age, Gracie arrives from the NBL1 North, where she most recently suited up for the South West Metro Pirates. The talented guard was recognised as the Players’ Player of the Year for the Pirates in 2025, following an outstanding season where she averaged 18.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
Gracie Champion’s consistency and leadership have been key traits throughout her career, which began in 2016 with the Brisbane Capitals. Over the years, she’s developed into one of the North Conference’s most reliable perimeter players — combining scoring punch with playmaking ability and defensive presence.
Head Coach Matt Sutton, who will again lead the OneFortyOne Pioneers in 2026, said Gracie’s addition will bring valuable experience and competitiveness to the roster.
“Delighted to have Gracie join the program, she’s a high quality shooter with a great knack for getting to the free throw line, and is a fantastic person.” he said
Champion shared her excitement about making the move to Mount Gambier and competing in the NBL1 South.
Gracie Champion said:
“Very excited to be joining the Pioneer family! Can’t wait for the season to start and to represent this great association!”
The OneFortyOne Pioneers will tip off their 2026 NBL1 South campaign soon, with further announcements on roster signings and pre-season activities to be released soon.
