The Northern Star Resources Goldfields Giants are proud to announce the signing of Andrew Manton ahead of the 2023 NBL1 West season.
The 189cm guard played in the WABL and SBL leagues with the Giants in 2020 and 2021 before injuring his ACL.
Following a period of rehabilitation and a strong focus on gym work, Manton has returned fit and ready for the season ahead as an NBL1 player.
Manton said he is feeling better following his 18-month recovery and is looking forward to the season.
“It is good to be back – I feel fit – I feel like I’m in the best shape I can be but of course I will continue to improve on fitness and all that,” he said.
“Preseason was rough – it has been pretty hot out here but it has been good to get going with the guys three or four days a week and work on teambuilding with the local guys again.
“I am looking forward to travelling with everyone. I’m not really looking for individual stuff after having 18 months off so I am just going to focus on being the biggest team guy that I can.”
Manton said he is looking for the team to make as many wins as possible and to make a deep playoff run again.
Head coach Scott Manton said while the player is one of the youngest in the group, he believes he is ready to step up into NBL1.
"He has worked hard off season and has impressed the coaching staff and his teammates during the preseason,” he said.
Manton joins a list of recruits for this season which tips-off at home on Saturday.
