How the Brisbane Capitals are rolling

The Brisbane Capitals are rolling in the NBL1 North at the moment, led by Mia Loyd. 

In Round 10 Loyd was unstoppable in the Capitals’ two wins. Averaging 28 points, 13 rebounds and four assists. 

On The NBL1 Show, NBL1 North expert Jon Guarna sang the praises of the group despite the circumstances. 

“Really big wins for the Caps and they’re doing it at the moment without Abby Cubillo, who unfortunately is out with an injury.”

“But the players have stepped up, and particularly Mia Loyd, she has been phenomenal for the Caps.”

“I know that they would be disappointed and we’re all disappointed that Abby is hurt because that was such a dynamic backcourt. Since Abby has been out, Mia has really put even more on her shoulders and she is delivering.” 

While Cubillo is set to miss a significant stretch, Loyd stepped up massively, handing the third-on-the-ladder Pirates and the Sunshine Coast Phoenix losses this past weekend.

Guarna said that the Capital’s defence has been one of the key factors in their stretch of wins against the talented Pirates and the “very, very tough” Phoenix team. 

“The two wins for the Caps, big time for them because they move up to 7-5 for the season and sit in the seventh spot on the ladder at the moment.”
