The Mount Gambier Pioneers have re-signed Nick Marshall and Olivia Wormald for the 2022 NBL1 South season.

Marshall had a very successful debut season with the Pioneers in 2021, playing solid minutes in all matches, and averaging 16.61 points per game with a 45.98 percent success rate shooting from the field together with a valuable six rebounds per game.

Such is the promise shown by Marshall that he currently is a contracted development player with the Adelaide 36ers and has had court time in two recent matches.

Pioneers Head Coach Richard Hill has expressed his delight at having Nick return to the Pioneers in 2022.

"Nick’s improvement and talent has been recognised by the 36ers with him deservedly being signed as a development player for the 2021-22 season," Hill said.

"Nick has a great attitude and work ethic, and I expect he will continue to improve and provide us with size, versatility and high-level talent on the wing."

In 2021, Wormald averaged just under 17 minutes court time each game but shot over 52 percent from the field with almost three rebounds a game.

The Pioneers expect Wormald to further strengthen her contribution to the team in the 2022 season.

Head Coach Matt Sutton was extremely happy with the news that Olivia was returning for the 2022 season.

"Olivia has been an important part of our basketball community since joining us in 2019," Sutton said.

"Liv will have an important role in our group in the new season.

"She has been working hard on further developing her game to be ready for season 2022."
