Matt Bongetti to lead NBL1 Women

The Eltham Wildcats are pleased to announce Matt Bongetti as the Head Coach of the NBL1 Women for the remainder of the 2022 NBL1 South Season.

After serving 3 seasons as Assistant Coach, Bongetti was the perfect choice to step in and lead the team moving forward. His rapport with the players and understanding of the game is second to none placing him and his group in the best possible position to make a run for a finals spot.

Eltham Wildcats CEO Connor Matthews believes the appointment is a perfect one.

“The club is happy to be able to appoint Matt as head coach of the NBL1 Women’s side moving forward. We have great confidence in Matt and feel that he is a fantastic fit for this role."

Newly appointed Head Coach Bongetti is excited about the opportunity and looking forward to the second half of the season.

“I am really grateful to the club and the wider Eltham Wildcat community for giving me this opportunity to coach at the NBL1 level. I am not only excited at the chance to coach a great group of hard-working female athletes, but also to interact with the future Wildcats coming through.

“We will be playing an exciting, fast paced and fun brand of basketball and I can't wait to get to work with the group and seeing what we can produce throughout the back half of the year.”

The NBL1 represents the highest level achievable for players, coaches, technical officials and game day staff in the Eltham Wildcats pathway. It provides individuals in the north-east of Melbourne with a chance to be exposed to the national leagues. The Eltham Wildcats aim to have teams that strongly represent the north-east of Melbourne and players who’ve come through the Eastern Districts Junior Basketball Association (EDJBA).
