Daly dose of basketball brings Sabres to Top
The Sturt Sabres remain undefeated after five rounds with a solid 78-58 win over the North Adelaide Rockets at the Cave. A 16-0 run across halftime set the lead up for the Sabres before Rocket Jimma Dau blasted to life with 15 second half points (17 points and 8 rebounds total) before an 8-0 run led by utility Sam Daly closed the game for the Sabres. Daly dropped 21 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists to narrowly miss a triple double with Tom Goodall (15 points and 8 rebounds) and Joel Spear (13 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists).
CJ continues Flames hot run scorching Mavs
Another CJ Turnage 20-point first half elevated the Norwood Flames to a comprehensive 90-69 win over the Eastern Mavericks at the Firedome. Turnage finished with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and had plenty of assistance from fellow import Anthony Green with 12 points and 11 rebounds and one roof shattering put back one-handed slam! For the Mavs Nathaniel Koko led the way with 14 points along with veteran Jordan Robertson with 13 points and 6 rebounds.
Warriors Stan-bridge tall in rousing comeback
An incredible last quarter from the Woodville Warriors well and truly stamped their early credentials with a rousing 86-82 win at the Castle. Reliable Luke Stanbridge launched the Warriors back into a 31-14 last quarter to finish with 30 points at 63 percent with 6 rebounds. Not to be overshadowed however was import Julian Jacobs enormous triple double of 13 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists and a big game from two-man Riley Meldrum (19 points at 64 percent and 3 assists). For the Eagles, Jake Rios rolled for 22 points in the first half to finish with 24 points with Michael Harris having a huge second half for his 21 points, 5 rebounds and assists along with Brandon Brine with 17 points and 7 rebounds.
Lions Machar-ed after half time by Tigers
Despite holding the lead at halftime by three, The Lions have been out scored in the second half as the Tigers won the Safari Cup 76-87 at the Den. It was massive Machar Machar with 21 of his 28 points all coming in the second half. Import Cameron Coleman dropped 27 points in the win along with dynamic guard Nick Wurm’s 15 points. Lual Diing dropped 23 points to lead the Lions after David Humphries 14 first half points.
Rollin Ross can’t rise Bearcats on Sunday celebrations
A sensational third quarter from star import Earnest Ross couldn’t propel his Bearcats to the win as the South Adelaide Panthers bounced back from their thriller last week with a 67-79 victory at the Bearcat Cave. The combined effort from the Panthers on the Bearcats 75th anniversary weekend was led by Todd Davies with 17 points, 7 rebounds, Sam Johns with 16 points and 3 assists including several steading baskets and injected into the starting line-up Kristian “K-Money” Ciabattoni with 16 points and 3 assists. Star South import Alex Starling was well held but still managed a double double of 11 points and 17 rebounds along with 5 steals and 2 blocks. Ross dropped 14 of his 19 points in the third quarter comeback to finish with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists with Bryan Michaels scoring a quiet 16 points and 5 assists.
