Southern Tigers vs Forestville Eagles

DJ rocks Cage to tame Tigers

It was another superstar night from Daniel Johnson as his 34 points and 9 rebounds steered the Forestville Eagles to a convincing 74-110 win over the Southern Tigers at the Cage. The Eagles rollicked to a 11-31 first quarter lead thanks to a dunkfest from Greg Mays (16 points and 7 rebounds) and extended it from there through Jack Purchase (17 points and 9 rebounds) and Adam Doyle (9 points and 9 assists). The Tigers were led by Machar Machar (19 points and 11 rebounds) and 15 points and 9 rebounds to Ricardo Martin and Lachlan Olbrich with 15 points. Junior star gun Curtis Scott also made an impact for the home side with 14 points off the pine.

Eastern Mavericks vs Sturt Sabres

Haygood heave secures Sabres despite late Mavs march

A season high from Devin Haygood saw the Sturt Sabres secure a solid win despite a real late march from the Eastern Mavericks 86-99 at the Shooting Gallery. The Sabres had all but secured the win leading 60-88 minute into the final term when the home side desperately needing to throw everything at it rallied for a 26-6 run out of nowhere. Haygood early in the game burst out of the blocks for an aggressive 9 points with four massive dunks to finish with 25 points and 6 rebounds while Jacob Rigoni bounced back from his previous lean numbered performance with 20 points and 5 assists. James Legan shot the Mavs back into the contest to finish with 29 points and 7 rebounds and Ioannis Dimakopoulos clocked 17 points and 12 rebounds to give the home side a slim chance of pinching a very unlikely late victory.

Woodville Warriors vs North Adelaide Rockets

Stepney secures payback to put Rockets in place

He may have missed the shot last time, but Jawan Stepney and the Woodville Warriors didn’t miss the mark after quarter time as they dismantled the North Adelaide Rockets 108-71 at the Castle. Stepney finished with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and along with David Humphries (21 points) helped the Warriors open up a 22-point lead at the half 65-43. The Warriors kept that gap before running over the top of the Rockets in the fourth via 14 fast break points. The Rockets Terry Winn was best with 19 points and 11 rebounds while Jimma Dau found some much needed form with a 14 point and 11 rebound double double of his own.

Central District Lions vs West Adelaide Bearcats (Kayo Game of the Week)

BJ and former Bandit lift Lions to much needed win

The duo of Bijan Johnson and former NBL1 East Albury-Wodonga Bandit Branden Jenkins rolled out their best as they lifted their Lions to a much-needed win over the West Adelaide Bearcats 87-60 at the Den. BJ dropped 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Jenkins showed his prowess with 21 points and 8 rebounds to help the Lions open up a 49-33 lead at the half which the Bearcats could never get back. Nik DeSantis and Nate Sheppard once again led the stats for the away side with 17 and 13 points respectively.

South Adelaide Panthers vs Norwood Flames

Five nil Flames fire over Panthers

The Flames have won their fifth in a row as they fired their way to a 72-85 win over the South Adelaide Panthers at the Jungle. Trey McBride lit up his side from the tip-off to finish with 24 points but it was the “cannon” in Cameron Huefner with 11 third quarter points of his 16 points and 6 rebounds that really set the game up for the Flames. Matt Lycett was in 2015 Woollacott Medallist form with 17 points and 5 rebounds and hitting his high degree of difficult shots. Anthony Green also got no smaller as the game went on with 12 points and 9 rebounds and a couple of big dunks to energise his side. Jeremy Smith quiet to half-time tried to put points on the board in a hurry to finish with 26 points and Alex Starling had an unusual inconsistent night with 13 points and 8 rebounds while Andrew “Hawkeye” Barton came off the pine again to drain four from beyond the arc for 14 points.
