South Adelaide Panthers vs West Adelaide Bearcats
Nine and outright Bearcats oust Panthers
The Bearcats started off the night of first nations round with their ninth win in a row downing the Panthers 60-65 at the Jungle. Unlike last time the Bearcats got off to a fast start with a 18-28 first quarter with the second quarter not pretty viewing as both teams did not score till halfway through the term. It was however Skye “Left” Langenbrinck with an equal season high of 23 points (including 15 points to half time) that led the way for the form side. The Panthers fought back in the final term with a 16-3 run led by Ash “Splash” Spencer (21 points including 14 after half-time) to close it to a single basket. It took a crucial double double (14 points and 11 rebounds with 8 offensive) including two offensive rebounds from Jennie Rintala to secure the tight win for Bearcats.
Southern Tigers vs Norwood Flames
Flaming third torches Tigers for fifth
The Flames third quarter torched the Tigers and put them one game clear of them on the table 62-82 at the Cage. 15 of Brooke Basham’s 29 points came in that term as the Flames went on a 0-19 run with Ally Wilson notching a second consecutive triple double of 11 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. Alek Akuen also had her most dominant performance of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds as her team won the rebound count comprehensively 37-50. Jemma Thacker top scored for the Tigers with 19 points and Jaedyn De La Cerda was next best with 16 points and 8 rebounds.
Sturt Sabres vs North Adelaide Rockets
Sabres Dyer straights smoke Rockets to remain in five
The Sabres took care of business smoking the Rockets off the floor 95-55 at the Cave. Mikayla Williams caused all sorts of problems once again with 21 points at 60 percent from the field and 9 rebounds while a career high including 4 triples from Caitlin Dyer for her 16 points and 3 steals off the pine was a treat for the crowd to watch. Peyton Taylor helped the Rockets in the second quarter remain competitive with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Beth Dittmar stood up when needed for a career high of her own in 13 points.
Eastern Mavericks vs Woodville Warriors
Gouchie-Provencher provides Mavs back-to-back wins
A season high from import Oksana Gouchie-Provencher has provided back-to-back wins for the Mavericks over the Warriors 91-87 at the Shooting Gallery. Gouchie-Provencher grabbed crucial buckets at times throughout the evening as she collected 28 points and 14 rebounds and was well supported by last week’s player of the week Chloe Dumesny (26 points and 6 assists) and Brigitte Lefebvre-Okankwu (24 points and 11 rebounds). The Warriors would not go away without a fight with Eliza Joynes continuing her late season surge with 22 points and 15 rebounds, Katherine Perkas was big again with 21 points and 10 assists and Regan Turnour-McCarty (20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals) and Emily Winter (13 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists) kept their team in the contest in a night of big numbers. The telling stat was the shooting percentages with the Mavs shooting 56 percent for the night.
