De La Cerde delivers on debut as Tigers trounce Warriors
New Southern Tigers import shooting guard Jaedyn De La Cerde delivered 18 points on debut as the Tigers trounced the Warriors 50-83 at the Castle. It was a huge second quarter 14-26 after a competitive opening quarter that saw the away side split away from the home side. South Adelaide Panthers vs Sturt Sabres (Kayo Game of the Week)
Panthers pause Sabre streak
It took to the final quarter but the Panthers have paused the Sabres winning streak sinking them 81-73 at the Shed at Michael Ahmatt Court. The Panthers led by 11 points at the half 52-41 with Jordan Hunter guiding the Panthers home after Ash “Splash” Spencer dropped 14 points in the first half. The game ebbed and flowed from there with Kayla Mathews after a strong first half for the Sabres copped a heavy blow to the head from the hardwood floor that took her out of the game unfortunately at an important time of the match. Former Sabre Jade Johnson iced the game from her former side to complete the bounce back win for the Panthers.
Eastern Mavericks vs West Adelaide Bearcats
Sky, Keeley daggers drag Bearcats over Mavs in fourth
The Mavs hung with the Bearcats all night but it took some late fourth quarter three-point daggers from Sky Langenbrinck and Keeley Pearce to finally give the Bearcats the win 70-84 at the Shooting Gallery of St Francis. That paved the way for a final term of 12-20 as the “left-handen” brinck finished with 23 points and Pearce with 15 points at 75 percent off the bench. Jas Fejo was hard to stop the whole night as well with 23 points and Jasmine Simmons pulled down another 10 rebounds along with Jennie Rintala who added 8 points and 11 rebounds. Brigitte Lefebvre-Okankwu was best again for the Mavs with 24 points and 13 rebounds in a team missing Oksana Gouchie-Provencher. Chloe Dumesny stepped up with 15 points to be the only grey and white player in double figures.
Central District Lions vs North Adelaide Rockets
Taylor-less North bailed off the bottom of ladder by Tia
The Rockets have pulled off a gutsy away win minus star import Peyton Taylor thanks to their experienced core as they downed the Lions at the Den 65-79. Tia Bails was enormous in the second half to finish with 23 points and along with a sharp shooting Tayla Corrigan (14 points at 70 percent and 16 rebounds) finished off the early work of Sammy “DeFran” Francesco (11 of her 20 points coming in the first quarter). The Lions Raynisha Washington had a huge second quarter to steer the Lions back into the contest after a slow start 13-25 to finish with 23 points and Casey Samuels got going after half-time after being close checked defensively all night with 20 points. Tyla Bennett loomed a huge threat for the Rockets with 13 points and 13 rebounds but under coach Glenn Shaw stepping in for the absent Brenton Johnston pulled off the second win for the season for last season’s finalists.
