Sabres steely second half outshines Simons, Cagey Tigers put Flames out, Panthers five siege Castle, Bearcats bounce back and Taylor shakes off Lions for Rockets

Sabres steely second half lock down outshines Simons show

The Sturt Sabres have flexed their muscle against an injury riddled Forestville Eagles as they eventually inflicted a first loss of the season for the home side 43-67 at the Nest. The Sabres got it done in multiple ways with Kylee Smith (20 points, 8 rebound and 3 assists) and Jade Johnson (19 points and 2 assists) leading from the front in a stout defence performance. The Eagles were led by the Simons with a double double from Sam of 13 points and 12 rebounds and sister Jess with 12 points and 6 rebounds.   

Cagey Tigers put Flames out

The Southern Tigers continued their undefeated run winning six on the trot as they held their home of the Cage against the Norwood Flames 85-70. Import Teige Morrell was huge with a double double of 24 points and 13 rebounds while Morgan Yaeger also joined her double double territory with 19 points and 14 assists setting the table for her Tigers. Genna Anderson for the Flames had a big game with 23 points and a 10 rebound double double of her own with Bride Kennedy-Hopoate and Ally Wilson registering 15 points each.     

Panthers five fires them to siege in the Castle

The South Adelaide Panthers grabbed another big win over the Woodville Warriors with not many passengers in their siege of the Castle 68-97. Five Panthers scored double figures including Olivia Thompson (20 points and 14 rebounds), Ash “Splash” Spencer (16 points), Jordan Smith and Hannah Stewart with 12 points each and star guard Jordan Hunter with a double double of 10 points, 11 assists and 4 rebounds. For the Warriors Emily Winter was top scorer for both teams with 30 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals.

Bearcats bounce back to continue misery for Mavs

The West Adelaide Bearcats have celebrated Skye Langenbrinck’s 200th in style sealing a solid 75-56 win over the Eastern Mavericks at the Bearcat Cave. Import Jennie Rintala was the leader with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists along with a double double to Abby Brenton (10 points and 10 rebounds) and a Michaela Lappin lay up fest with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Langenbrinck also celebrated the night well with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the milestone maker. The Mavs were steered by Mollie McKendrick with 20 points and 7 rebounds with a solid small amount of playing time for Allie Garcia also yielding 9 points.    

Rockets and Taylor shake Lions to eventually achieve lift off

It took some time but the North Adelaide Rockets fought off a feisty Central District Lions in the second half to lift off to a 92-50 win at the Launch Pad. Utility Taylor Ortlepp dropped a massive 27 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists along with a double double to Sam Defrancesco of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Rachel Mate dropped 19 points while Jess Good also contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds. April Rummery-Lamb continued her stellar form for the Lions with 16 points and 10 rebounds while newcomer Rebecca Wells added 11 points.
