Round 12 in the NBL1 East got underway on Saturday evening with the Albury-Wodonga Bandits delivering a thumping 105-65 road victory against the Inner West Bulls.
Even without Lauren Jackson, the Bandits were dominant with Ai Yamada finishing with 27 points and 10 assists, and Unique Thompson 22 points and 19 rebounds. Georgia Stirton finished with 16 points for the Bulls.
It was a commanding home win also for the Newcastle Falcons who defeated the Illawarra Hawks 101-57.
Emily Foy top-scored with 27 points with seven three-pointers while Chyra Evans added 23 points and 16 rebounds for Newcastle. Georgia Ohrdorf top-scored for Illawarra with 20 points.
It was a low-scoring tussle which saw the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles defeat Norths Bears 57-50.
Alex and Bree Delaney both scored 17 points for the Sea Eagles with Riley Evans finishing with 13 points.
The Central Coast Crusaders hit the road and came away with the 80-65 victory against the Maitland Mustangs.
Sara Matthews finished with 20 points and eight rebounds for Central Coast while Mikaela Dombkins put up 19 points, 13 rebounds and six assists for the Mustangs.
It was a tight contest at Hills Basketball Stadium with the Canberra Nationals ending up prevailing 58-55 against the Hills Hornets.
Abby Solway finished with 16 points for Canberra with Lizzy Tonks adding 11 points, 14 rebounds and six assists. Cassandra Pentney put up 15 points and nine boards.
There are two more matches on Sunday to wrap up Round 12 in the NBL1 East with the Hills Hornets hosting the Inner West Bulls and the Maitland Mustangs hosting the Illawarra Hawks.

INNER WEST BULLS 65 lost to ALBURY-WODONGA BANDITS 105
The Albury-Wodonga Bandits hit the road on Saturday night and came away with the thumping 40-point win against the Inner West Bulls.
Inner West was at home to play host to Albury-Wodonga at ELS Hall Park and even though the Bandits were without Lauren Jackson, they proved too strong.
That started with the Bandits scoring 10 straight points during the first on their way to a 14-point lead at quarter-time.
The Albury-Wodonga lead grew to 21 points during the second quarter but Inner West did well to stay in touch to a degree to cut the Bandits' half-time advantage to 50-35.
The Bandits put the game beyond doubt in the third quarter with another 10-0 run that saw the lead grow to 33 points. It then got out to as much as 40 points and that was the final margin with Albury-Wodonga winning 105-65.
The Bandits remain on top of the NBL1 East Women's standings as a result of the win at 10-2 while the Bulls are now 0-14 following another loss.
Ai Yamada was tremendous for Albury-Wodonga finishing with 27 points, 10 assists and four steals with Unique Thompson contributing 22 points, 19 rebounds and five steals.
Amelia Hassett added 16 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocked shots, Casey Ardern 11 points, five assists and four steals, and Jade McCowan 18 points.
Georgia Stirton top-scored for Inner West with 16 points, six rebounds and five assists with Tasmyn Haynes contributing 15 points and three boards, and Daphnee Frieson 12 points, four rebounds and two blocked shots.
NEWCASTLE FALCONS 101 defeated ILLAWARRA HAWKS 57
The Newcastle Falcons flexed their muscles with a terrific performance at home to beat the Illawarra Hawks by 44 points on Saturday night.
The Falcons hosted the Hawks at Newcastle Basketball Stadium on Saturday night and the home team started well to lead 19-12 by the end of the first quarter.
Newcastle then really caught fire in the second term going on an 11-0 run to lead by as much as 24 points and to go into the half-time break in control leading 49-26.
The Falcons went on with the job from there with the lead eventually blowing out to 44 points by the final buzzer as they recorded the 101-57 victory on their home floor.
As a result of the win, the Falcons improve to an 8-4 record on the season with the Hawks slipping to 9-4 as a result of their toughest performance of 2022 so far.
It was a dominant rebounding performance from Newcastle as they collected 53 boards to 39 from the Hawks while also shooting 48.2 per cent from the floor opposed to 34.4 per cent along with knocking down 16/35 threes compared with 3/15.
Emily Foy finished the night with 27 points and three assists for the Falcons while nailing 7/11 from three-point land.
Chyra Evans added 23 points and 16 rebounds, Nicole Munger 19 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals, Kate Kingham 13 points, seven steals and four assists, and Rachael McGinniskin nine points and five boards.
Georgia Ohrdorf top-scored for Illawarra with 20 points and three rebounds with Rebecca Abel adding 13 points and six boards, and Melainie Kirby 11 points.
NORTHS BEARS 50 lost to MANLY-WARRINGAH SEA EAGLES 57
It was a low scoring grind between the Norths Bears and Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles on Saturday night, but it was the visitors who ended up prevailing by seven points.
The Bears were at home to the Sea Eagles at North Sydney Indoor Sports Centre and they started strongly to open up an early seven-point advantage, and still being on top 12-10 by quarter-time.
Both teams only combined for 15 points in the second quarter with the Sea Eagles outscoring the Bears nine points to six which meant the visiting team led narrowly 19-18 at half-time.
The scoring picked up in the third quarter with Manly-Warringah catching fire going on a run of 15 straight points to see their lead grow out to double-figures.
The Sea Eagles ended up scoring 22 points to 15 for the third quarter, and despite a 9-0 run from Norths in the last term, Manly-Warringah held on for the 57-50 victory.
The Sea Eagles handed the Bears just their second loss of the season with Manly-Warringah improving to a 9-5 record as a result while the Bears are now 9-2.
Bree Delaney ended the night with 17 points and 11 rebounds for Manly-Warringah while Alex Delaney contributed 17 points, three boards and two steals.
Zoey Miller added 14 points and seven rebounds for the Sea Eagles.
Riley Evans finished with 13 points, three rebounds and three assists for the Bears, Kate Seebohm 10 points and four boards, and Carla Pitman eight points and nine rebounds.
MAITLAND MUSTANGS 65 lost to CENTRAL COAST CRUSADERS 80
The Central Coast Crusaders produced a strong showing on the road on Saturday night to end up beating the Maitland Mustangs by 15 points.
The Mustangs played host to the Crusaders at Maitland Federation Centre and it was a tight first quarter with scores all square at 19-19 by quarter-time.
Central Coast did manage to score 10 consecutive points in the second quarter to end up leading by as much as nine and that was the gap half-time with them up 39-30.
The Crusaders opened up their advantage further in the third quarter with another 11-0 run that saw the lead grow to 19 points, and with 26 points to 16 in the term they went up 65-46 by three quarter-time.
Central Coast cruised to the 80-65 win from there to improve to 3-10 on the season while the Mustangs are also 3-10 by the end of Round 12.
Sara Matthews ended up top-scoring for Central Coast with 20 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals with Jonalyn Wittwer contributing 13 points, three boards and three assists, two blocked shots.
Bronte Moore added 12 points for the Crusaders, Elizajane Loader 10 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals, and Nicole Hutchins 10 points and six rebounds.
Mikaela Dombkins top-scored for Maitland with 19 points, 13 rebounds and six assists with Hannah Fox contributing 14 points and six boards, and Rachel Williams 14 points and seven assists.
HILLS HORNETS 55 lost to CANBERRA NATIONALS 58
It was a tight battle all evening between the Hills Hornets and Canberra Nationals at Hills Basketball Stadium in Round 12 of the NBL1 East.
Despite five straight points early on from the Hornets, the Nationals opened up a 16-11 lead by quarter-time but things remained tight and Hills were able to score another five straight points in the second term to end up taking back the lead.
The Hornets ended up putting together 17 points to 13 in the second quarter to go into half-time only trailing the Nationals by a solitary point.
From there, Canberra's lead only grew to two points by three quarter-time but then the Nationals took over with an 8-0 run in the fourth term to end up leading by 10 points.
They then held out the late charge from the Hornets to claim the 58-55 victory and improve to 5-8 on the season at the end of Round 12 while Hills are now 6-9.
Abby Solway ended up leading the charge for Canberra with 16 points while Kristen Langhorn contributed 14 points and six rebounds, Chloe Tugliach 12 points, seven steals and six boards, and Lizzy Tonks 11 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.
Cassandra Pentney top-scored for the Hornets with 15 points to go with nine rebounds while Rhiannan Yetsenga contributed 10 points and five boards, Taryn Mahoney seven points, seven rebounds and seven steals, and Paris Roditis seven points and three assists.
