The Round 10 Saturday night competition saw wins for the Townsville Flames, Southern Districts Spartans, USC Rip City, Logan Thunder, Rockhampton Cyclones and North Gold Coast Seahawks.
Round 10 in the NBL1 North Women's competition got underway on Friday night with the Townsville Flames defeating the Southern Districts Spartans 77-64 while the Rockhampton Cyclones defeated the South West Metro Pirates and Red City Roar beat the Northside Wizards 95-80.
Then on Saturday night, things got underway with the Townsville Flames making it two from two on the road this weekend beating the Brisbane Capitals 74-50.
Mia Murray drained six triples on the way to 20 points for Townsville with Courtney Woods also scoring 19 points while Madison Woodford top-scored for Brisbane with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
The Southern Districts Spartans then inflicted some more pain on the Gold Coast Rollers with the 90-64 road victory.
Madelyn Allen produced 27 points and seven assists with five three-pointers for the Spartans with Kalani Purcell adding 17 points, 11 boards and nine assists. Susi Walmsley had a season-high 16 points for Gold Coast.
USC Rip City held off the fast finishing Cairns Dolphins also on Saturday night to end up winning 83-77.
Ashley Arien delivered 25 points and 10 rebounds for Rip City with Maddy Rocci adding 20 points and eight assists. Cayla George finished with 21 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists for Cairns.
It was a mammoth win at home for Logan Thunder as they defeated the Sunshine Coast Phoenix 109-39.
Indiah Bowyer had a remarkable night for the Thunder knocking down 11 three-pointers on the way to 39 points while Mikaela Ruef had 21 points and 14 rebounds. Amy Browne top-scored for Sunshine Coast with 13 points.
It was a much closer affair in the Top End with the Rockhampton Cyclones taking out a heartstopper 85-84 against the Darwin Salties.
Lara McSpadden had another huge performance made up of 26 points and 14 rebounds with Lauren Heard delivering 24 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
The North Gold Coast Seahawks produced an impressive performance on their home court to defeat Red City Roar 75-50.
Erin Riley put up 20 points, nine rebounds and four assists for North Gold Coast while Ariana Moorer finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds for Red City.
Round 10 in the NBL1 North will now wrap up on Sunday afternoon with the Ipswich Force at home to the Logan Thunder and the Northside Wizards hosting the Townsville Flames.

BRISBANE CAPITALS 50 lost to TOWNSVILLE FLAMES 74
The Townsville Flames made it two from two to start their triple-header road trip this weekend by beating the Brisbane Capitals 74-50 on Saturday night.
On the back of beating the Southern Districts Spartans on Friday night, the Flames backed up at Auchenflower Stadium on Saturday to take on the Capitals.
It was a tight opening to the contest with Brisbane narrowly leading 16-15 by quarter-time and things remained close leading into half-time which saw Townsville on top 31-30 at the interval.
The Flames then began to pull away in the third period with 21 points to 14 which saw their lead grow to double-figures. Townsville then closed the deal with a 12-0 run in the fourth quarter to claim the 74-50 win.
The victory is a second straight this weekend for Townsville before they close the triple-header road trip this weekend on Sunday against the Northside Wizards.
Mia Murray ended the night for the Flames with 20 points and nine rebounds while knocking down 6/13 from three-point land.
Courtney Woods added 19 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals for Townsville with Alanna Smith contributing 14 points and four boards, Steph Reid nine points and six assists, and Jaimee Seebohm eight points, 15 rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Madison Woodford top-scored for the Capitals with 15 points, 12 rebounds and three assists with Abby Cubillo adding 11 points, six boards and five assists, Anna Cameron seven points and six rebounds, Bronte Corke six points, and Steph Collins six points and 12 boards.
GOLD COAST ROLLERS 64 lost to SOUTHERN DISTRICTS SPARTANS 90
The Southern Districts Spartans continued their strong NBL1 North Women's form by handing the Gold Coast Rollers a 26-point defeat on their home court on Saturday night.
The Rollers played host to the Spartans at Carrara Stadium but it wasn’t the happy homecoming they were hoping for with Southern Districts starting on fire going on a 13-0 first-quarter run to lead by as much as 21 points.
The Spartans still led 33-14 by quarter-time and then that lead grew to as much as 29 during the second quarter as they put up another 20 points to 12 to end up leading 53-26 at the half-time break.
Southern Districts consolidated their advantage from there throughout the second half to end up winning 90-64 and improving to a 10-2 record on the season while Gold Coast slipped to 5-7 following the defeat.
The Spartans pulled down 11 more rebounds than the Rollers while they shot 45.8 per cent as a team along with knocking down 13/30 from three-point land. The Rollers went at 36.5 per cent overall and hit 7/22 from downtown.
Madelyn Allen had a night out for Southern Districts finishing with 27 points, seven assists, three rebounds and three steals while knocking down 5/11 from the land of plenty.
Kalani Purcell also put together 17 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists, Leah Scott 15 points, seven boards and six assists, Natalie Taylor 14 points and eight rebounds, and Lil Dart 13 points, four boards, three steals and two blocks.
It was a tough night for the Rollers without Lauren Mansfield but Susi Walmsley had her best night of the season with 16 points and two assists. Lilly Rotunno added 13 points, four assists and four steals, and Siarn Woods nine points and two steals.
USC RIP CITY 83 defeated CAIRNS DOLPHINS 77
It was a tremendous contest at USC Sports Stadium on Saturday night with USC Rip City ending up holding out the fast finishing Cairns Dolphins for the six-point victory.
USC was back on their home court to host the Dolphins and it was the home team who led narrowly 25-22 by quarter-time.
Rip City maintained that advantage during the second term and extended the lead with 18 points to 12 to go into half-time leading 43-34.
The home team pulled away further in the third period with a 9-0 run to see the lead grow to 17 points, but the Dolphins weren’t going to let it go without a fight.
However, the gap proved too much to overcome and Rip City held on for the eventual 83-77 victory to improve to a 4-6 record on the season while Cairns is now 7-5 following the defeat.
Rip City turned the pressure on Cairns forcing them into 27 turnovers for the game and along with 14 offensive rebounds to six that helped them take 16 extra field goals for the eventual six-point win.
Ashley Arlen had a standout performance in the win for Rip City with 25 points and 10 rebounds while knocking down 5/9 from beyond the arc.
Maddy Rocci added 20 points and eight assists for USC while Carlie Smith contributed 14 points and 13 rebounds, Katherine Ups 10 points and three assists, and Liisa Ups six points, six steals, three assists and three rebounds.
Cayla George did what she could to lift the Dolphins with 21 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists while Amy Lewis contributed 14 points, six boards and five assists, Alessandra Burke 13 points and four rebounds, Penina Davidson 12 points and four boards, and Teyahna Bond 11 points and three assists.
LOGAN THUNDER 109 defeated SUNSHINE COAST PHOENIX 39
The Logan Thunder produced quite the emphatic performance at home on Saturday night to beat the Sunshine Coast Phoenix to win by 70 points.
The Thunder hosted the Phoenix at Bendigo Bank Cornubia Park Sports Centre on Saturday night and they didn’t take long to assert their authority.
Logan scored nine straight points and before long were on top by 22 points to end up leading 27-5 by the end of one.
The home team scored 14 more straight points during the second quarter and the lead was as high as 44 points leading into half-time which saw the Thunder leading 59-15.
It was more of the same throughout the second half with another 22 points to 11 in the third quarter and 28 to 13 in the fourth before Logan went on to record the 109-39 victory.
The result improves the Thunder to a perfect 10-0 record on the season while the Phoenix are now 1-12 following the defeat.
Logan collected 56 rebounds to 30 for the night including 22 offensive boards to just six from the Phoenix. The Thunder also forced Sunshine Coast into 24 turnovers while the home team shot at 46.9 per cent from the field and knocked down 20/42 at three-point land at 47.6 per cent.
The Phoenix shot at just 26.8 per cent from the field and 33.3 per cent from deep.
Indiah Bowyer delivered a stunning performance for the Thunder made up of 39 points while hitting 11/17 from three-point land.
Mikaela Ruef added 21 points, 14 rebounds and four assists, Ashley Taia 15 points, nine assists and six boards, Sigi Koizar 12 points, six rebounds and three assists, and Chevannah Paalvast 12 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists for a triple-double.
Amy Browne finished with 13 points and four rebounds for Sunshine Coast with Mia Byrne adding seven points and three assists.
DARWIN SALTIES 84 lost to ROCKHAMPTON CYCLONES 85
How often are basketball players told that conceding offensive rebounds on missed free-throws are a cardinal sin, well the Darwin Salties learned in the hardest way possible on Saturday night.
The Salties played host to the Rockhampton Cyclones at Darwin Basketball Stadium on Saturday night and it turned out to be an outstanding and dramatic contest.
The Salties did open up a six-point lead during the first quarter before being up 23-20 after one but Rockhampton turned the tide in the second term and headed into half-time leading 44-43.
The Cyclones did open up a handy lead in the third quarter on the back of scoring 13 straight points to open up a double-figure advantage, but the Salties fired back to set up a frantic finish.
Darwin grabbed the lead with a three-point bomb from Jessica Boundy with just over a minute left. Lauren Heard then hit a pair of free-throws to see the Salties up 84-80.
A couple of free-throws from Heidi Freeburn brought Rockhampton back within two points before Jannon Otto thought she hit the tying basket, but Serena Waters drew the offensive foul and got the charge call going her way.
However, the Salties couldn’t take advantage and then up the other end Madison Torresin was fouled. She made the first and missed the second, but the play of the night was then the offensive rebound and putback from Lara McSpadden and Rockhampton won 85-84.
On top of that game winning play, McSpadden backed up her standout performance on Friday night with another massive showing for the Cyclones with 26 points, 14 rebounds and three assists.
Heidi Freeburn finished with 18 points, three assists, three rebounds and three steals, Jannon Otto 16 points, 13 boards, four assists and four steals, Annaliese Watkinson nine points, Sara Storeshaw nine points and eight boards, and Madison Torresin seven points, four steals and four rebounds.
Lauren Heard finished with 24 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Salties while Teyla Evans contributed 13 points, three boards and three assists, Jessica Boundy 12 points, Chelsea Brook 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists, and April Rummery-Lamb 11 points and eight boards.
NORTH GOLD COAST SEAHAWKS 75 defeated RED CITY ROAR 50
The North Gold Coast Seahawks produced a standout performance on Saturday night to beat the Red City Roar by 25 points.
The Seahawks hosted the Roar at Runaway Bay Stadium and the home team started on fire with 21 points to four in the first quarter.
While Red City did outscore North Gold Coast in the second term with 17 points to 12 but still the Seahawks led 33-21 by the half-time break.
North Gold Coast consolidated their advantage throughout the second half to lead by 19 points at three quarter-time and to end up winning 75-50.
The victory improves the Seahawks to an 8-4 record on the season while following the loss Red City falls to 3-8.
The shooting was the major difference on the night between the two teams with North Gold Coast going at 44.3 per cent from the field and Red City just 22.7 per cent.
Erin Riley led the charge for the Seahawks with 20 points, nine rebounds and four assists while Doniyah Ciiney added 13 points, four assists and three rebounds.
Lauren Jansen fell just short of a triple-double with 10 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists while Isalys Quinones added 11 points, seven boards, three steals and two assists.
Ariana Moorer finished with 16 points, 15 rebounds, three assists and two steals for Red City. That left just 34 points, 27 rebounds, eight assists and eight steals for the rest of her team.
