The Hobart Chargers produced a terrific comeback to beat Keilor Thunder to open Round 2 in the NBL1 South Men's competition on Friday night.

It was the lone match in Round 2 of the NBL1 South season on Friday night and it was a tremendous contest at Kingborough Sports Centre.

The Chargers were down 12 with eight minutes to go in the game, but stormed home to score the 89-83 win on their home floor with AJ Harris putting up 33 points. Kian Dennis top-scored for Keilor with 19 points.

Round 2 of the NBL1 South Women's competition continues on Saturday night with the Geelong Supercats hosting the Ringwood Hawks and the Knox Raiders taking on the Waverley Falcons.

The Nunawading Spectres also play the Dandenong Rangers, the Ballarat Miners are at home to the Etham Wildcats, the Diamond Valley Eagles face the Sandringham Sabres and the Kilsyth Cobras battle the Casey Cavaliers.

The North West Tasmania Thunder are also at home to the Keilor Thunder and the Mount Gambier Pioneers take on the Frankston Blues.

HOBART CHARGERS 89 defeated KEILOR THUNDER 83

The Hobart Chargers were hunting their first win of the NBL1 South Men's season hosting the Keilor Thunder on Friday night and while they got their wish, it was a tremendous contest.

The two teams opened Round 2 of the 2022 NBL1 South season on Friday night at Kingborough Sports Centre with the Chargers looking to bounce back from a first up loss to the North West Tasmania Thunder while the Thunder opened up with a win at home to the Bendigo Braves.

It was a tight opening to the contest with Keilor managing to hold a 21-20 advantage by quarter-time.

The Thunder then pulled away a little further in the second quarter with 25 points to 17 to go into the half-time break leading 46-37.

The Chargers came out a motivated outfit from half-time, though, with 28 points to 22 in the third quarter, and then another 24 to 15 in the fourth to claim the 89-83 win and open their account for 2022 in the process on their home floor.

AJ Harris came up huge for Hobart finishing the night with 33 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Jack Stanwix added 15 points, five rebounds, five steals and four assists, Jordan Hargrave 14 points and eight rebounds, Ole Angerstein 12 points and 13 boards, and Jaylen Howard 11 points, five rebounds and two assists.

Kian Dennis worked valiantly for the Thunder to finish with 19 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals with Jacob Lampkin adding 18 points and six boards, Rhyss Lewis 16 points and four rebounds, and Tyler Kidd 11 points and five assists.
