NBL1 SOUTH – 2022 MEN'S SEASON
ROUND 3 – FRIDAY NIGHT
HOBART CHARGERS 78 lost to KILSYTH COBRAS 82
The Hobart Chargers threw everything at trying to pull off a comeback win at home on Friday night but it wasn't quite to be against the Kilsyth Cobras.
The Cobras headed to the Apple Isle chasing their third win so far of the NBL1 South Men's season while the Chargers were hunting a second, and it turned out to be a tremendous contest at Kingborough Sports Centre.
Little separated the two teams most of the evening but Kilsyth were threatening to open up a handy advantage during the third quarter when leading by as much as eight points.
However, the Chargers kept close and then when they opened up the fourth quarter with a triple from Jack Stanwix and a big putback slam from Ole Angerstein, they had the narrow lead.
A Corey Jeffs triple put Kilsyth back on top but AJ Harris restored the one-point lead for Hobart up the other end.
Eventually the Chargers home fans were getting excited when Jack Stanwix drained a three ball to put them up one with four minutes to go but scores were soon level again at 78-78 with under three to play.
Both teams found the scoring tough the rest of the way and it was the Cobras who scored the final four points of the contest with a pair of free-throws to Tim Lang and another pair to Trey Moses for the 82-78 victory.
Corey Jeffs had a terrific night for Kilsyth to finish with 25 points and 10 rebounds while connecting on 4/9 from three-point territory.
Tim Lang added 17 points and five rebounds, Ben Ursich 15 points, Trey Moses 14 points and eight rebounds, and Adrian Tomada five points and five assists.
Harry Froling suited up for the Chargers just five days after his NBL season at the Illawarra Hawks ended, and finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds and four steals.
AJ Harris added 15 points, four rebounds and four assists for Hobart, Jack Stanwix 10 points, four boards and three assists, Ole Angerstein 10 points and seven rebounds, and Jaylen Howard 10 points.
