With some school holidays NBL1 action taking place on a chilly night in Melbourne, let’s see how the Ringwood Hawks faced off against the Melbourne Tigers below.

Women’s: Ringwood Hawks (71) def Melbourne Tigers (47)

The Ringwood Hawks have taken care of business at home, beating the Tigers 71-47 in an all-round team win.

Four Hawks scored in double-digits as Marta Hermida led the way with 19 points, eight assists and six rebounds and four steals. Marena Whittle added 17 points and 15 rebounds.

Ringwood’s team effort held the Tigers to only 14.3 percent from the three-point line, giving them the distance they needed to close out this Wednesday night game.

Melbourne’s Tess Heal had 22 points and five rebounds in the loss with some dazzling highlights, but it was ultimately enough to secure the win.

In a game that went down to the wire, the Tigers have pulled off a massive win on the road against the Hawks.

The Tigers are 16th on the NBL1 South ladder and have walked in on a Wednesday night to take down the ninth seeded Hawks at home in a great game.

Tigers’ Mason Gaze scored 21 points, with four three-pointers and six rebounds while Ringwood’s Emmentt Naar and Kyle Daggett were impressive. Naar, off a Footlocker Player of the Week nomination, had 18 points, eight rebounds and seven assists while Daggett had 25 points and 14 rebounds in the close loss.

In the final moments Ringwood’s Jack Roberts collected a loose ball, turned around and hit a three to make it a one possession game.

The Tigers defence ultimately stopped Ringwood from escaping with the win as a missed hook shot from Daggett was rebounded by Patrick Twigg to end the game.
