North West Tasmania Thunder 71 def by Ballarat Miners 74
The Ballarat Miners have won one of the most exciting games of the young season on the road over the North West Tasmania Thunder.
It was close to a stalemate all game, with neither team giving an inch to the other.
Paul Campbell led the way for the Thunder, attacking inside on his way to 18 points and nine rebounds.
After the two sides couldn’t be separated in regulation, the game headed to overtime, where Ballarat’s Mattew Kenyon put the cherry on top of an already strong performance.
The young guard was on fire all night, tallying 27 points, nine rebounds, four assists, as well as the game winning, buzzer-beating three pointer to break the hearts of the Thunder's home fans.
Frankston Blues 110 def Dandenong Rangers 76
The Frankston Blues have secured a huge victory at home against the visiting Dandenong Rangers.
The game was played at a frenetic pace, and ultimately, the Rangers just couldn’t keep up.
The Blues pulled ahead in the second term, outscoring Dandenong 35-13 on the back of some large individual scoring efforts.
David Anderson proved why he has had such a stellar international career, scoring 24 points in just 19 minutes, while his Blues teammates Lachlan Barker and Dillon Stith each had big games (23 points and 20 points respectively).
Declan Soukup tried his best to get the Rangers back into the game, sinking five or his six three-point attempts on his way to 17 points.
In the end, the Blues were far too good, running away with the 34 point win.
Knox Raiders 72 def Kilsyth Cobras 63
The Knox Raiders have won a hard fought defensive outing over the Kilsyth Cobras on their home floor.
It was tight for all three opening quarters, with the Cobras holding a slight one-point advantage going into the final term.
Timothy Lang impressed for Kilsyth, putting together a strong double-double (16 points and 12 rebounds).
He was one of four double-digit scorers for the Cobras, however it was not enough come the fourth quarter.
Knox were able to lock in on Lang and Kilsyth’s other weapons, while pouring on 19 points of their own to secure the win.
Dylan Hare led the way for Knox, scoring 16 points and hitting on three long bombs.
Sandringham Sabres 90 def by Mt Gambier Pioneers 122
The Mt Gambier Pioneers have secured their first win of the new NBL1 season on the road, smashing the Sandringham Sabres by 32 points.
It was a high-scoring affair from the outset, with the Pioneers fast-paced offence proving too much for the Sabres in the first half.
Sandringham trailed 45-64 going into half time, and not even another impressive performance from Kuany Kuany could get them back into the contest.
Kuany finished with 28 points, 10 rebounds and five three-pointers, however was eclipsed by Pioneers forward Doum Dawam.
Dawam ended the game with 32 points and 16 rebounds, helping the Pioneers hold onto their first half lead and tally their first win of the year.
Eltham Wildcats 76 def by Diamond Valley Eagles 79
The Diamond Valley Eagles have overcome a spirited Eltham side looking for their first win of the year to remain undefeated.
It was a close game early on, with both teams matching each other of either end of the court.
The Wildcats took a five-point lead into the main break, but ultimately couldn’t hold on in the second half.
Eltham guard Justin Aver tried his best to keep the Wildcats in the game, finishing with 20 points and five three-pointers.
It would not be enough in the end, as Diamond Valley took the lead in the third quarter and never looked back.
Darcy Harding led all scorers on the evening with 23 points to go along with nine rebounds as the Eagles held on for the three-point victory.
Albury Wodonga Bandits 102 def by Melbourne Tigers 107
The Melbourne Tigers have won their first game of the season after orchestrating an impressive second half comeback against the Albury Wodonga Bandits.
After a stalemate in the first term, the Bandits took a 10-point lead into the half time break thanks to some strong work on the interior from Mitchell Dance.
Dance led the Bandits in scoring, getting inside against the Tigers for 28 points.
Melbourne however were not ready to give up, shooting the lights out from the outside in the second half.
Felix von Hofe once again impressed for the Tigers, scoring 33 points while stretching the floor for his teammates, allowing Melbourne to complete the second half comeback and run away with a five-point win.
Ringwood Hawks 81 def by Geelong Supercats 85
In a battle of high-scoring guards, the Geelong Supercats have overcome the Ringwood Hawks on the road to remain undefeated.
In a back-and-forth first half, the Hawks were able to come out on top heading into the main break.
Ringwood attacked Geelong with the dynamic duo of CJ Asuncion-Byrd and Aiden Sturt, who combined for 50 points on the evening.
The Hawks five-point half-time lead quickly disappeared in the third term, as Geelong put together an impressive 29-12 quarter behind the scoring of Isaac Turner, who cut Ringwood up from every angle on his way to 35 points.
The Hawks kept coming in the final term, however a resilient effort from Geelong allowed the Supercats to hold on for their second win of the season.
