Hobart Chargers 107 def Diamond Valley Eagles 97
The Diamond Valley Eagles will likely relinquish its spot atop the NBL1 South Men’s ladder after going down to the Hobart Chargers on the road.
Hobart’s victory was built in the first quarter. The Chargers went on a 26-7 run mid-way through the quarter to take control of the action, before extending its lead to a game-high 26 points in the second term.
Jonathan Mines was again on his A-game, scoring 32 points while cashing in on seven of his 14 three-point attempts.
Mines wasn’t the only player for Hobart doing damage from outside the arc, with six of his teammates connecting from downtown during the contest.
While the Chargers were hot from three-point range, the Eagles were not.
Diamond Valley found itself focussing more on inside scoring as it looked to claw its way back into the game in the second half, after hitting just three of its 21 attempts from downtown.
A 21 point outing from Robert Heath off the bench helped the Eagles outscore the Chargers in the second half, however it came as too little, too late for Diamond Valley.
The Eagles will look to bounce back on Saturday against the NW Tasmania Thunder.
