Hobart Chargers 107 def Mt Gambier Pioneers 79
The Hobart Chargers dazzled its fans on Friday evening, dominating the visiting Mt Gambier Pioneers.
The game started slowly, with both teams struggling to find any rhythm.
Mt Gambier continuously looked to get itself going behind the three-point line, however the shots simply weren’t falling.
On the other side, the ever reliable duo of Keon Sapwell and Jonathon Mines helped Hobart pull ahead late in the quarter.
The disparity behind the arc continued in the second term, as the Chargers connected on good open looks, while Mt Gambier fired up brick after brick.
Hobart connected on eight of its 18 three-point attempts in the first half, while the Pioneers only managed a single triple on 11 attempts, leading to a 17-point halftime advantage for the Chargers.
The lead only grew after the main break, as Hobart opened the third term on a 15-4 run.
The Chargers would ultimately outscore Mt Gambier 35-17 in the quarter, thanks in part to the outside shooting of Mines, Sapwell and Elijah Pawson.
The trio combined for 56 points and 13 three pointers in the contest.
While Mt Gambier did outscore Hobart in the final term, the game was all but over, with the Chargers cruising to the comfortable 28-point win.
