NBL1 West Semi-Finals Previews

The Semi-Finals are underway this week in the NBL1 West.
From Thursday to Friday the women’s and men’s teams will battle it out in the Semi-Finals for their shot into the Preliminary Finals. They will face the winners of the Qualifying Finals from last week!
On the women’s side, the Warwick Senators and Joondalup Wolves await their match-up while on the men’s side the Geraldton Buccaneers and the Rockingham Flames will see who comes out of the Semi-Finals.

Women’s
Mandurah Magic v Rockingham Flames
After an 11-point loss to the Wolves, the Mandurah Magic have a second chance to make the NBL1 West Grand Final on Thursday night. The Flames are coming off a three-point win on the road against the Lakeside Lightning in an elimination final, can Mahryn Kraker maintain her momentum after a 25-point and nine assists performance?
While the Magic come into the game on a loss, the likes of Casey Mihovilovich and Carly Boag will not go down quietly.

Willetton Tigers v Cockburn Cougars
After losing to Warwick in the qualifying round, the Tigers will be hungry to get back in the race for the West title and a ticket into the Coles Express NBL1 National Final.
Last game Alex Sharp led her team in scoring with 26 points but the Senators are a dangerous bunch led by the conference MVP Stacey Barr. Cockburn beat Perry Lakes by 10 last round and a monster 23 points and 24 rebounds from Jessie Edwards got them the win.

Men’s
Cockburn Cougars v Warwick Senators
The Cockburn Cougars have an extremely talented roster. The likes of sharpshooter Carter Skaggs and scoring machines like Gavin Field and Josh Hunt can be hot and cold at times, like they were last week against the Buccaneers, but when they are firing they are difficult to beat.
The Senators come into this with a win against the Perry Lake Hawks, led by Perth Wildcats Kyle Zunic and Majok Majok, the Senators can be just as dangerous.

Joondalup Wolves v Goldfields Giants
Escaping with a two-point win in the elimination finals the Goldfields Giants will now face the Joondalup Wolves. The Giants are a deep team with great chemistry, led by Gairges Daow who had 26 points against the Magic last week.
However, the Wolves have extreme talent, with NBL1 West First Team selectant CJ Turnage and superstar Jonathan Wade.
