With the NBL1 West season starting on March 28, we’ve looked up and down the rosters to highlight the most impactful signings announced so far in the offseason.
Earlier in the week, WNBL MVP Anneli Maley made a conference-shaking move to the Perth Redbacks. You can read more here.
Joe Cook-Green - Perth Redbacks
The NBL1 West All-Star Five member Joe Cook-Green changed teams this offseason, moving from the Eastern Suns to the Perth Redbacks for the 2024 season.
He scored a league-record 54 points in a single game last year against the Cockburn Cougars, making a statement and putting his name around the country.
He will be the scoring x-factor for the Finals team, which has added two-way big man Ioannis Dimakopoulos and retained NBL1 West Select Team member Tevin Jackson.
Alex Sharp - Rockingham Flames
The two-time NBL1 West MVP Alex Sharp has made a surprising switch from the Willetton Tigers to the Rockingham Flames for the 2024 season.
Having spent the past three seasons in the NBL1 West with the Tigers, Sharp led the team to the championship in 2021 and took home the Finals MVP. The Tigers then made the next two Grand Finals appearances off the back of Sharp in 2022 and 2023.
In the WNBL with the UC Capitals, Sharp is currently averaging 15.9 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists through to Round 14.
The Flames have built a contending roster, bringing 2022 NBL1 West Coach of the Year Joondalup Wolves Marcus Wong and star on the rise Nes’aya Parker Williams.
Zac Gattorna - Warwick Senators
NBL and NBL1 West champion Zac Gattorna has signed with the Warwick Seantors for the 2024 season.
After being a key piece to the Geraldton Buccaneers’ championship run last season, Gattorna will now play with the Warwick Senators alongside Perth Wildcat Michael Harris.
Last season Gattorna averaged 18.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists, dropping a season-high 39 points against the East Perth Eagles.
The current Sydney King will add scoring, athleticism and championship pedigree to the 12-10 Senators, who just made the Finals as the seventh seed last season.
