Nicole Munger earns her WNBL gig through NBL1

After scoring 53 points in the NBL1 East and leading her Newcastle Falcons to the East Finals, Nicole Munger got her WNBL chance with the UC Capitals earlier this season.
In an interview with the ABC, Munger spoke about her journey to her WNBL debut.
"I was playing in Spain last year, which was an unbelievable experience, but the level was a bit lower," she said.
"After that season, I came to Australia to play NBL1 with Chyra Evans — she's now at [the University of] Michigan, which is my alma mater.
"So, I was like, 'Oh, I'll go play NBL1 and then maybe go back to Spain'," Munger said.
Veal offered Munger a training contract but, just days after she moved to Canberra and three weeks into the season, fate intervened again. One player Dekeiya Cohen quit, "effective immediately", and Munger was told to suit up for Round 4.
"A spot opened up and it was just magic," she said.
