In the final game of the tour, Pelita Jaya finished on a high with a major comeback against the Melbourne Tigers winning 89-82.
While Pelita Jaya was missing KJ McDaniels, James Dickey III made up for the absence – scoring a tour-high 32 points with 17 rebounds, five steals and four assists.
Jack Purchase made a huge first impression, swatting three blocks in the first quarter alone. But it was the Tigers’ bench that was the most impressive, with the chemistry from Youth League, the young squad took control of the lead early in the second quarter -- scoring 10 straight points to open the term.
Melbourne’s ball movement and defence were outstanding, you could mistake this squad for the golden era of the Tigers in the 1990s, with their back cuts and unselfish passing.
And it was led by Wilson Amos, who scored a team-high 28 points with three assists and three steals to take back the lead going into the second half.
The game went back and forth for the rest of the clash, but Pelita Jaya’s Agassi Goantara and Dickey III made the difference when it mattered. Goantara scored five points in the final minute, hitting a dagger three to close the game, while Dickey III scored eight points alone in the quarter and had multiple critical defensive plays.
