The teams finished the regular season on identical 14-8 records but with the Blues earning home court advantage thanks to claiming the series split and going into the finals on a four-game winning streak.
Diamond Valley did lose to Frankston last weekend by 33 points, but all of a sudden they regained Steph Reid and Abbey Ellis from the triumphant Opals team at the Asia Cup in China, and it was a decidedly different story.
Diamond Valley did open up a seven-point lead in the first quarter before Frankston hit back and by the end of one the scores were all tied at 22-22.
Frankston then managed to outscore Diamond Valley 23-19 in the second term and by half-time the Blues were leading on their makeshift home of Jubilee Park Stadium 45-41.

The Raiders finished the regular season in second position with a 19-3 record and with 11 straight wins to earn the hosting rights at the State Basketball Centre of the qualifying final.
They were hosting a Dandenong team who finished third at 16-6 and it turned out to be quite the defensive grind for most of the evening.

The last two NBL1 South championship winning teams locked horns in the qualifying final at the State Basketball Centre with Knox having finished the regular season a game clear in top spot at 17-5 while Eltham's championship defence saw them win seven straight to end up fourth at 14-8.

Knox managed a 10-0 scoring run in the first quarter for a seven-point lead but by quarter-time that advantage was just back to 20-18.
The Raiders did open up a handy 11-point lead in the second term but by half-time Eltham had managed to stay in touch and limit that Knox advantage to 39-33.
