Can the Eastern Suns reach the highs of the Perth Wildcats? Terrico White believes so

A new powerhouse duo is on the cards when the NBL1 West tips off this weekend, with two-time NBL champion Terrico White comparing his on-court relationship with teammate Marshall Nelson, to his former Perth Wildcats companion in five-time MVP Bryce Cotton.

White, a former NBL Wildcat, played with Cotton in the 2019 and 2020 championship years. And it seems the NBL1 West will turn back the clock and see a similar mateship on the Eastern Suns this season between White and new teammate, Nelson.

“Just think of me and Bryce (Cotton). The same kind of situation. Bryce wants to score, Marsh wants to score and I want to score too. It’s going to be the same thing,” White said via Fast Break Podcast.

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard will play his first NBL1 season with the Suns, and returns to Perth for the first time since 2020 with the Wildcats. He joins Nelson, who is a Kalamunda junior, and has been a star of the NBL1 West and SBL competition for many years.

Asked if he had a target on his back, White denied the claims as the 35-year-old said his main focus was to prove his worthiness.

“I don’t feel like there’s a target on my back, I’m just trying to show this team and the NBL I’m still worthy.”

White and the Suns’ first game of the 2025 season tips off on Saturday, April 5, against the South West Slammers. Watch the game live from 7:00pm AWST via NBL1.com.au or the NBL1 App.
