The Northern Star Resources Goldfields Giants are pleased to announce the return of Austin Cummings to the men’s side ahead of the 2023 NBL1 West season.

The Northern Star Resources Goldfields Giants are pleased to announce the return of Austin Cummings to the men’s side ahead of the 2023 NBL1 West season.

Cummings relocated to Kalgoorlie last season, joining brother Hamish Cummings who also plays for the club.

The 195cm forward said he had been enjoying preseason training giving he arrived later last year and did not get to train prior to the season.

“It’s been good to get a run in the legs and all that so it has been going well,” he said.

Cummings said he re-signed with the club “to progress” from where he was last year.

“So, going to another club or moving somewhere else wouldn’t have been an option for me,” he said.

“I’m looking to keep improving from last year and probably pushing into the NBL1 spot a bit more and hopefully get some more minutes.”

Head coach Scott Manton said Cummings’ talent is in “playing multiple roles at both ends of the court”.

“He can very quickly impact a game and has been a consistent contributor in the current domestic competition,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to what lies ahead for him in 2023.”

Preseason training has ramped up as we sit only 8 days from season tip off on April 1.
