See the women's Teams of the Week below:
NBL1 North: North Gold Coast Seahawks
The North Gold Coast Seahawks are on a roll, winning three straight and have shown no sign of stopping. NBL1 North expert Jon Guarna said he’s been impressed by their streak in the middle of the season.
“This team is building a lot of momentum and leading the way for them is Erin Riley, the captain,” he said on The NBL1 Show.
“Watch out for this North Gold Coast team, they are just on the fringes of the top eight and they are playing with a lot of confidence.”
Riley finished their game against Red City with 36 points, nine rebounds and four assists to put them just outside the top eight by percentage alone.
NBL1 East: Central Coast Crusaders
Handing Manly Warringah only their second loss of the season, the Central Coast Crusaders are the talk of the NBL1 East this week.
Darneka Rowe was the “hero of the game” according to NBL1 East expert Jacinta Govind, she stood up with 22 points in the groundbreaking win. But the biggest adjustment came from the bench, as assistant coach Losalini Bulikalouru Katia had to step into the head coach role this Round.
“[They] did the impossible”, Govind explained on The NBL1 Show this week, as all eyes will be on the Sea Eagles to see if they bounce back with anger or if the Crusaders make a late-season run.
NBL1 South: Geelong United Supercats
The Supercats had an impressive weekend, beating the Knox Raiders and Keilor Thunder in back-to-back nights.
Starting on Saturday, the ‘Cats held the NBL1 South MVP Alicia Froling to only 18 points (7.5 points less than her average) and forced her to shoot only 5/17 from the field.
On Sunday they beat Keilor at home, soon-to-be Opal Chantel Horvat had a spectacular 29 points and 10 rebounds to give Geelong their ninth win of the season to sit fifth on the ladder.
NBL1 West: Lakeside Lightning
The Lakeside Lightning staved off a win against the East Perth Eagles on the road, stealing a six-point win on Friday night.
The Lightning held the Eagles to only 40 percent from the field, as Laci Hawthorne led the way with 22 points and 13 rebounds and captain Caitlyn Jones had 17 points, six rebounds and four assists in the critical win.
The Lightning have crept up to eighth on the ladder, jumping over the Eagles and hovering in an NBL1 West Finals spot.
NBL1 Central: Central District Lions
The Lions had a major weekend, scoring their first win of the season against the fourth-placed Norwood Flames in a four-point win.
The Foot Locker Player of the Week, Jaedyn De La Cerda had a triple-double with 22 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Lions past the Flames.
While Norwood was missing Ally Wilson due to 3x3 World Cup duties, the Finals contender struggled to handle the Lions’ defensive effort, holding Norwood to 35.7 percent from the field.
