The Albury Wodonga Bandits have announced the signing of Lochlan Hutchison for the remainder of the 2021 NBL1 South season.

Hutchison will be joining the team having completed his commitments with the Sydney Kings in the NBL where he has been a development player for the past two seasons.

Hutchison is a young and talented 6'2" point guard from Sydney who has also played in the NSW Waratah League with the Sutherland Sharks over the past few seasons.

He produced excellent numbers of 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists, as well as leading the Sharks to a Grand Final berth in the 2020 season.

Hutchison also had his first career start this year with the Kings to sign off on a great year for his personal development.

Bandits head coach Brad Chalmers welcomed the signing of Hutchison, as he believes it will provide some much-needed guard depth to the team with the loss of BJ Johnson for the season.

"Obviously with BJ going down early, it's been a massive blow for the group and impacted our results, so being lucky enough to sign Loch is a huge positive for us," Chalmers said.

"He is a real up-and-coming prospect with great maturity and understanding of the game for a young player.

"He can be an NBL player in the future no doubt and will be an important player for us in the backend of the year where we need some strong point guard play and a bit more on-court leadership.

"We will welcome his ability to run a team and hopefully make life a little bit easy for others within the group.

"From my conversations with him, he is really hungry to do well and understands what we need from him so we are excited to get him.

"Around our group, he seems like a very humble and respectful guy who is up for the challenge to do well for the team."
