DeSantis out for season with ACL

The Mount Gambier Pioneers have been dealt a blow on the eve of the NBL1 South season with Nik DeSantis injuring his knee at the NBL1 South Blitz in Dandenong at the weekend.

Scans have revealed DeSantis will require a full reconstruction after suffering a mild strain to his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). He will miss the entire 2021 NBL1 season.

“I’m so disappointed for Nik, he has worked incredibly hard over the last 12 months to get his game and body in outstanding shape,” coach Richard Hill said.

“Nik’s all-round game was shaping as key for the group, he is going to be sorely missed.

“I am so impressed by his work ethic and commitment that I am confident he will be back better than ever.”
