The Bendigo Braves have signed local up-and-comer and Australian U19 representative Piper Dunlop for the 2021 NBL1 South Season.

A product of the Bendigo pathway, Dunlop is ready to take the step up to the Braves NBL1 women full time, having been a key figure in the Braves Big V Victorian Youth Championship women’s team in recent seasons, averaging 12.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 2019, shooting at 52.4% from the field.

Most notably, Dunlop has recently progressed from being a Bendigo Spirit Academy athlete to being a rostered WNBL player for the Bendigo team in the 2020 Queensland hub season, taking the floor in eight games and providing a shining light for the team with a glimpse into what the future could hold for the youngster at national league level.

Dunlop built off those steps forward and was named in the Australian U19 FIBA World Cup women’s squad and will balance increased opportunity at senior level in the NBL1 team with completing her year 12 studies, which showcases her ambition and work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to be successful at anything she puts her mind to.
