History Made: Michael Aylen Surpasses NBL Record

NBL1 South and Basketball Victoria would like to congratulate Michael Aylen on surpassing the NBL Record for all-time games officiated. Yesterday in Perth, Michael will take charge of his 950th NBL contest eclipsing the record held ?by fellow Victorian referee Ray Hunt.

Michael is an icon in the officiating landscape, having commenced his referee career at Nunawading in 1983. Michael has gone on to officiate the highest levels of competition, boasting an unrivalled resume of accolades including:
- 3 Olympics
- Olympic Gold Medal appointment at London 2012
- 3 World Championships
- 10-time NBL Referee of the Year
- 8-time Basketball Victoria Referee of the Year
- 26 consecutive seasons of NBL Grand Final appointments
Michael’s career is a testament to dedication, commitment and elite performance. He continues to inspire the next generation of officials across the nation, and is a constant reminder of what a “kid from Nunawading” is able to achieve within our sport.
