Lightning sign Batish for WNBL season

The Adelaide Lightning have signed NBL1 South player Ella Batish for the upcoming 2020 WNBL season.

The Adelaide Lightning have signed NBL1 South player Ella Batish for the upcoming 2020 WNBL season.

Batish played for the Sandringham Sabres in the 2019 NBL1 season, averaging 9.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. She had committed to play for the Frankston Blues in the 2020 NBL1 season before it was cancelled due to COVID-19.

She will now join the Lightning in the WNBL hub before turning her attention to the 2021 NBL1 season.

“I feel lucky and privileged to get this opportunity to get the call to play considering the year that it has been,” Batish said via the Adelaide Lightning website.

“I’m here to play and do what I do which is be a defensive presence and get boards for the team.”

Batish replaces the injured Alanna Smith who recently withdrew from the WNBL season due to an ongoing ankle injury.
