The Hobart Chargers knocked off the Mount Gambier Pioneers on the back of 43 points from Harry Froling as part of what took place on Saturday night in Round 9 of the NBL1 South.

Other Saturday night winners included the Geelong Supercats, Sandringham Sabres, Ringwood Hawks, Kilsyth Cobras, Dandenong Rangers and Bendigo Braves.
Friday night had just the one game in Round 9 of the NBL1 South competition and it saw DJ Vasiljevic lead the Diamond Valley Eagles to the 89-64 victory against the Nunawading Spectres.
The round then continued on Saturday night with the Geelong Supercats holding out the fast finishing North West Tasmania Thunder 86-82.
Gabe Hadley delivered 26 points and nine rebounds for the Supercats while Sean Macdonald produced 26 points for the Thunder.
The Sandringham Sabres defeated the Waverley Falcons on their home court 102-94.
Dion Prewster had 26 points and 12 rebounds for the Sabres, Shea Ili 25 points and Tohi Smith-Milner 22 points and 10 rebounds. Dexter Kernich-Drew scored 24 points for Waverley.
The Ringwood Hawks hit the road on Saturday night and came away with the 85-75 victory against the Ballarat Miners.
Kyle Daggett top-scored for Ringwood with 24 points while Emmett Naar had 20 points and 13 assists. Jalon Miller put up 28 points and 10 rebounds for Ballarat.
The Kilsyth Cobras won a tight one against the Melbourne Tigers 82-78 with Deng Deng ending up with 18 points and seven rebounds, and Mitch Dielemans 19 points. Michael Wearne delivered 25 points for the Tigers.
The Dandenong Rangers held firm at home to beat the Knox Raiders 97-90.
Dyson King-Hawea led the charge for Dandenong with 20 points, six rebounds and four assists while Alex Robinson delivered 29 points for the Raiders.
The Bendigo Braves produced an impressive performance on the road to beat the Eltham Wildcats 82-62.
Luke Rosendale finished with 17 points for Bendigo and Mitch Clarke 15 points and six assists with Mitch Dance scoring 15 points to go with nine rebounds for Eltham.
The Hobart Chargers then handed the Mount Gambier Pioneers just their second loss of the season and they did it on the road winning 92-82.
Harry Froling was the star in the result with 43 points and 16 rebounds with seven three-pointers for the Chargers while Michael Harris put up 32 points for the Pioneers.
Round 9 in the NBL1 South will wrap up on Sunday with the Nunawading Spectres at home to the North West Tasmania Thunder with the Casey Cavaliers taking on the Eltham Wildcats, and Keilor Thunder hosting the Hobart Chargers.

GEELONG SUPERCATS 86 defeated NORTH WEST TASMANIA THUNDER 82
The Geelong Supercats held out the fast finishing North West Tasmania Thunder for a four-point win on Saturday night in Round 9 of the NBL1 South.
The Supercats were back on their home floor at The Arena to host the Thunder with the home team making a fast start going on an 11-0 run during the first quarter to open up an early double-figure lead.
That advantage for Geelong grew to 16 points during the second quarter and they remained in control leading 52-39 at the half-time break.
The Supercats maintained that advantage through the third quarter as well, but the Thunder hadn’t travelled over Bass Strait for nothing and gave it a real crack in the fourth quarter.
In the end they only fell four points short of what would have been a stirring fightback with the Supercats holding on to win 86-82.
The result improves Geelong to an 8-3 record on the season while North West is now 5-6 following the defeat.
Gabe Hadley ended up top-scoring for the Supercats with 26 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals while connecting on 4/9 from three-point range.
Demarcus Gatlin added 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals as well for Geelong while Kris Blicavs contributed 14 points and three boards, Isaac Turner 13 points, five rebounds and three assists, and Owen Odigie 11 points and five boards.
Tasmania JackJumpers trio Sean Macdonald, Matt Kenyon and Fabijan Krslovic tried to spark the Thunder. Macdonald finished with 26 points on 6/11 shooting from deep with Kenyon adding 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Krslovic 10 points, 11 boards, four blocks and three steals.
Joel Beveridge also had 13 points on 3/6 shooting from deep for North West.
SANDRINGHAM SABRES 102 defeated WAVERLEY FALCONS 94
The Sandringham Sabres started on fire at home to the Waverley Falcons on Saturday night and then held firm for an eventual eight-point victory.
The Sabres hosted the Falcons at Southern Basketball Stadium and with the trio of Kiwis Dion Prewster, Shea Ili and Tohi Smith-Milner leading the charge, they produced a simply stunning opening quarter.
At one point Sandringham scored 10 consecutive points and the lead was as much as 22 before they were still up 37-17 by quarter-time.
The rest of the way saw the Falcons try to make inroads into that deficit and they were able to do so to some degree including cutting the half-time deficit to 14 points.
Waverley then cut Sandringham's lead to eight points by three quarter-time, but the Sabres did enough to hold on to their advantage and end up winning 102-94.
The win improves the Sabres to an 8-5 record on the season while with the loss the Falcons are now 7-4.
Dion Prewster was the star of the evening for Sandringham with 26 points and 12 rebounds on shooting 11/16 from the field and 4/5 from three-point territory.
Tohi Smith-Milner also delivered 22 points and 10 rebounds with Shea Ili contributing 25 points, four rebounds and four assists with Nick Gabsch adding 10 points.
Dexter Kernich-Drew did what he could to lift Waverley with 24 points, four rebounds and three assists while Tristan Forsyth finished with 23 points and nine boards, Jake Heath 19 points and four assists, and Durrell McDonald 13 points and two steals.
BALLARAT MINERS 75 lost to RINGWOOD HAWKS 85
The Ringwood Hawks produced a strong performance on the road after starting well on Saturday night to beat the Ballarat Miners by 10 points.
The Hawks made the trek to Selkirk Stadium in the Saturday night Round 9 action to take on the Miners and Ringwood started impressively with 22 points to 13 in the opening quarter.
Ringwood then kept the momentum going through the second quarter with another 8-0 run to end up leading by a commanding 21 points.
However, on their home floor the Miners weren’t about to just lie down and they scored 15 consecutive points to fire themselves right back into the contest to be down just six by half-time.
Ballarat was able to score those last 15 points of the second quarter and then with the first three of the third term that turned into an 18-0 run to make a real game of it.
The home team had all the momentum but the Hawks were able to do well to avoid giving up the lead and again consolidate to a 15-point lead later in the third quarter-
They maintained that edge the rest of the way to end up winning 85-75 to improve to a 7-5 record on the season while with the defeat Ballarat slips to 8-5.
Kyle Daggett finished the night for Ringwood with 24 points, nine rebounds and four assists on shooting 8/14 from the floor, 3/6 from beyond the arc and 5/5 from the free-throw line.
Tim Guers added 20 points and seven rebounds for the Hawks, Emmett Naar 20 points and 13 assists, Shaun Clarke 10 points and eight boards, and Jack Roberts 11 points and five rebounds.
Jalon Miller did all he could to lift the Miners with 28 points and 10 rebounds including shooting 4/6 from three-point land.
Koen Sapwell added 10 points and five rebounds, Nic Pozoglou 10 points and eight boards, and Preston Bungei seven points, six rebounds and three assists.
KILSYTH COBRAS 82 defeated MELBOURNE TIGERS 78
Mitch Dielemans proved the hero in a four-point come from behind win on Saturday night at home for the Kilsyth Cobras against the Melbourne Tigers.
The two teams did battle at Kilsyth Sports Centre with the Cobras starting impressively to lead by as much as 11 during the first quarter, and still 21-16 by quarter-time.
Melbourne fired right back into the contest during the second period to score 10 straight points and grab the lead, and then by half-time scores were all tied at 44-44.
The momentum continued to switch with both teams spending time in front in the third quarter and it was destined to go down to the wire, and in the end it was Mitch Dielemans who played match-winner for Kilsyth.
With just over three minutes on the clock he nailed a huge three-pointer to put the Cobras back in front at 72-70. He then made three trips to the foul line in the final minute and nailed all six free-throw attempts as Kilsyth ended up beating Melbourne 82-78.
Dielemans ended the night for the Cobras with 19 points on the back of shooting 4/5 from the floor, 3/3 from beyond the arc and then 8/8 from the charity stripe.
Ben Ursich added 14 points and three rebounds for Kilsyth, Deng Deng 18 points and seven boards, Adrian Tomada 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals, and Corey Jeffs 12 points and five rebounds.
Michael Wearne led the charge for Melbourne with 25 points and six rebounds while nailing 5/13 from three-point land.
Mason Gaze added 21 points, six rebounds and three assists, and Simon Bradbury eight points and nine boards.
DANDENONG RANGERS 97 defeated KNOX RAIDERS 90
The Dandenong Rangers saw their 15-point lead disappear against the Knox Raiders on Saturday night but they hit back to end up winning at home by seven points.
The Rangers hosted the Raiders at Dandenong Basketball Stadium on Saturday night with the home team starting well to lead by as much as eight points in the opening period before leading 23-18 by quarter-time.
Dandenong then made an 8-0 run during the second term and that saw the lead for the home team grow to 15 points, and they were still leading 51-38 by half-time.
However, Knox has too much talent and experience to not make a run at some point and that came in the third quarter with 29 points to 18 to close that deficit to just two at three quarter-time.
The Raiders kept that momentum going in the fourth quarter and grabbed the lead briefly, but Dandenong responded to that impressively to score eight straight points and end up winning 97-90.
The victory improves the Rangers to a 4-8 record on the season while the Raiders are now 7-6.
Dyson King-Hawes stepped up to produce 20 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Rangers with 7/12 shooting from the floor and 3/4 from three-point territory.
Deng Puoch added 16 points and six rebounds for Dandenong, Jacob Davison 15 points, Ellis Biggar 15 points and five boards, Declan Soukup 12 points and five rebounds, and Lawson Eales 11 points and 10 boards.
Alex Robinson delivered 29 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals for Knox with Jacob Foy contributing 13 points, and Reuben Te Rangi 12 points, four rebounds and four assists.
ELTHAM WILDCATS 62 lost to BENDIGO BRAVES 82
The Bendigo Braves hit the road and delivered an eventual 20-point victory on Saturday night against the Eltham Wildcats.
The Wildcats hosted the Braves at Eltham High School, but it was the visitors who started the better and by hitting the last six points of the first quarter they led 15-9 by quarter-time.
Another run of eight straight points saw Bendigo's lead grow to 16 points during the second quarter and that's where things sat at half-time with the Braves in control 36-22.
Bendigo was far from done yet another 13-0 streak during the third quarter saw that lead balloon out to as much as 30 points during the second half before they ended up winning 82-62.
The victory sees the Stephen Black-coached Bendigo improve to a 6-6 record on the season while the loss sees Eltham slip to 1-10.
Luke Rosendale delivered 17 points and four rebounds for Bendigo while former Perry Lakes Hawks NBL1 West championship winning point guard Mitch Clarke put up 15 points and six assists.
Jake Lloyd added 13 points for Bendigo, Malcolm Bernard 12 points, five rebounds and four assists, and Jack White eight points, three rebounds and two steals.
Mitch Dance top-scored for Eltham with 15 points and nine rebounds with Deng Kuany adding 13 points with 3/6 shooting from downtown, Sam Short nine points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals, and Owen Foxwell eight points and six assists.
MOUNT GAMBIER PIONEERS 82 lost to HOBART CHARGERS 92
A remarkable individual performance from Harry Froling led the Hobart Chargers to the 10-point road win against the Mount Gambier Pioneers.
The Pioneers hosted the Chargers at The Ice House on Saturday night but it was Froling who arrived ready to put on a show as he gears up to make his mark in his second stint at the Brisbane Bullets in the NBL.
The Chargers put up 32 points in the first quarter away from home to end up leading by as much 18 points, and they were able to maintain that gap the rest of the way.
Hobart still led by 15 points at half-time, 16 points at three quarter-time and then ended up winning 92-82 against a Mount Gambier team that had been tough to topple coming into the contest.
The result improves the Chargers to an 8-3 record on the season now to be closing in on a Mount Gambier team still in first place at 10-2.
It was an incredibly dominant rebounding performance from Hobart as they pulled down 53 boards to 30 including 19 at the offensive end to six.
Harry Froling's night was remarkable for the Chargers as he finished with 43 points, 16 rebounds, two assists and two steals on the back of shooting 14/21 from the floor, 7/11 from three-point land and 8/12 at the free-throw line.
Ole Angerstein was a strong inside presence as well for Hobart with 23 points and 10 rebounds while Jarred Bairstow added 13 points, nine boards and three assists.
Michael Harris had a good night for the Pioneers with 32 points, seven rebounds and three assists on the back of nailing 6/9 from beyond the arc.
Tom Kubank contributed 15 points and four assists, Nick Marshall 13 points and six assists, and Kane de Wit nine points, three assists and three steals.
