Hobart Chargers 118 def Bendigo Braves 95

The Hobart Chargers have put on a shooting clinic against the Bendigo Braves at home, running away with a 23-point victory.
From the opening minutes of the game, it was clear that Hobart’s shooters were locked in.
The Chargers connected six consecutive triples in the opening five minutes, opening up an 18-11 lead before finishing the quarter with an 11-point advantage.
The hot shooting continued in the second quarter, with the likes of Keon Sapwell (28 points, seven three-pointers), Jonathan Mines (21 points, five three-pointers) and new recruit Jack Purchase (20 points, 10 rebounds, five assists) leading the way for Hobart.
The Chargers cashed in 14 of its 26 three point attempts in the first 20 minutes of action, as Bendigo struggled to keep up with the past pace, taking one step forward and two steps back for much of the first half.
Matthew Andronicos tried to give his side a boost off the bench, scoring eight points in five minutes before the main break.
Trailing by 21 points to start the third quarter, the Braves came out aggressively, feeding the ball to star Ray Turner (24 points) inside in hopes of reducing the deficit.
Despite Turner’s best efforts and some strong play off the bench from Javaan Mumtaz (16 points in 16 minutes), each time Bendigo fought its way back within striking distance, Hobart’s playmakers would find an open shooter and push the lead back to a comfortable distance.
The Chargers ultimately finished with 24 three-point makes in the comfortable 23-point win.
