Australian Opal Sami Whitcomb will return to her first Australian home with the Rockingham Flames.

Australian Opal Sami Whitcomb will return to her first Australian home with the Rockingham Flames.

During the SBL era, Whitcomb won three MVPs, two championships and was the Finals MVPs in both runs for the club.

A decade later the now WNBA champion will return to the start of her Australian career with the Flames.

Last season she played two games for the NBL1 West's Willetton Tigers, averaging 33 points against the Perry Lakes Hawks and the Lakeside Lightning.

Flame’s general manager Shannon Conrad said they are thrilled to bring Whitcomb back to the club before she returns to the WNBA.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sami back to where it all began, fittingly on the 10th anniversary of our inaugural championship,” they said.

“Her passion for the game and her commitment to excellence are infectious, and we have no doubt that she will inspire not only her teammates but also the entire Rockingham community."

Whitcomb will play 'x',

The Flames start their season tonight against the South West Slanmners, streaming live from 6:30pm AWST via NBL1.com.au or the NBL1 App.
