Townsville Basketball junior and Illawarra Hawks star Sam Froling will add his presence to the Townsville Heat from next week when he takes to the court in Mackay against his big brother Harry in the NBL1 North.
Fresh of winning the most improved award in the NBL, Sam has returned home and after a short break to recharge his batteries is ready to ignite the Heat’s run towards the playoffs.
"I am super excited to be coming home, it’s been a while since I have had the opportunity to play for Townsville," Froling said.
"I can’t wait to get on the floor with Rod (head coach Rodney Anderson) and the boys and see if we can bring another championship to Townsville."
The club had been working on Froling’s return to Townsville Heat colors since prior to season tip-off and are looking forward to seeing him back in the blue and gold from next week.
"We are beyond excited to have Sam come on board to add to our team this season," Heat Head Coach Rodney Anderson said.
"He has been in amazing form in the NBL taking home the most improved award and I am looking forward to working with him to continue his development.
"Sam has trained with us in the past and is such a unique talent for a seven-footer.
"The boys are really keen to get him into the group and familiar with our system before we take on Mackay and Rockhampton next week."
Townsville fans will first get an opportunity to see Froling on their home court on July 10 in the NBL1’s inaugural First Nations Round when they take on Cairns at Townsville Basketball Stadium.
