Northside Wizards superstar and Brisbane Bullets development player Lual Diing has re-signed with his NBL1 club for next season.

In the NBL1 North, Diing averaged 18.3 points, 10.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists, leading the Wizards to the Semi-Finals. He had 19 points and six rebounds in the final and was picked up by the Bullets during the run.

Diing said he’s excited to run it back with the Wizards for next season.

"I'm glad I've chosen to come back and play for the Wizards for the 2023 NBL1 North Season because I enjoy playing for the club,” he said

“It's run at a high level and I'm excited to continue to play with Mitch McCarron and Coach Petty who I know from South Australia. Coach Petty has been a part of my development journey since Adelaide 36ers and I'm glad to be reuniting with him under the Wizards banner.

“[I’m] excited to see what we can do next year at full strength!”

In a feature with NBL Media, Diing described how the NBL1 season helped him prepare for his NBL gig with the Bullets.

“I just wanted to be around an NBL team where I could get reps in with professionals every day,” he said.

“That was the main reason I came to NBL1 North. I felt it would give me more NBL experience and I wouldn’t be forced to do so much. My role in the NBL won’t be to put up 20 shots a game.

“I wanted to take on that kind of supporting role and master it, because if you master a role it’s always a good thing. Young guys like me won’t come into a team to take 20, 25 shots in a game so I wanted to learn a role I might play with the Bullets.”
